Ambassadors Program
We want to introduce you to our FCCPTA Ambassadors, who work purposefully and productively with PTAs within a pyramid!

The FCCPTA Ambassadors serve their pyramid PTAs by providing support (and guidance if needed), exchanging information, communicating Virginia and National PTA opportunities and news, and keeping local PTAs up-to-date on issues affecting FCPS. They also help to share information about local school challenges and opportunities.

**This is a new program so we have yet to fill ambassadors for all pyramids. We hope to recruit an ambassador for every pyramid for the next school year! If you are interested in serving, please contact Ambassadors Chair, Caren Lee at

Introducing our Ambassadors:

FCPS Calendar Update
ICYMI, there are important discussions occurring between our school board and FCPS leadership as they plan the 2021-2022 school calendar. Prior to COVID-19 disruptions, FCCPTA participated in the FCPS calendar planning working group which produced different calendar options with a focus on inclusivity for our students, families, and staff. Without that committee input, an additional calendar option was recently presented that focuses instead on a consistent Monday – Friday schedule. Last week, our school board requested that FCPS provide another option that addresses inclusivity as well as student wellness.
Please take a moment to review the current calendar options. How do you feel? Which calendar option works best for your family or your community?

Share your thoughts with your school board member, as they will ultimately decide what happens next.

Act quickly, as the school board is scheduled to vote on March 18, 2021

Community Use
Update: Governor Northam updated EO-72 on February 24, 2021. In the amendment, the number of participants has increased from 10 to 25!

Beginning February 8, 2021, FCPS Leadership will open scheduling for Community Use Phase 2-Group 4. Group 4 represents Support Organizations (PTA, PTO, PTSA, Boosters) management of after-school programs that are offered by Program Operators (volunteers, FCPS off-contract employees, and/or 3rd party Independent Contractors). Regardless of what type of after-school Support Organization program, FCPS’s process remains the same for Group 4.

Health and Safety for Return to School
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is providing the following guidance to staff regarding school health practices for students. The guidance is consistent with Governor Northam’s phased reopening plan for Virginia schools and guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Schools should follow all CDC, Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the local health department guidance for reopening schools during all phases.

This document is updated frequently and contains the most recent information on health and safety topics.
