Public Access to Vaccine Records Through DPH Portal

Connecticut’s Department of Public Health (DPH) announced that COVID-19 vaccination records will now be available through the state’s CT WiZ immunization information system. Residents can look up and print their COVID-19 vaccination record through the portal. Vaccine providers have been required to report to the state all data regarding COVID-19 inoculations delivered at the many sites across the state since last December. The portal can be found here.  If email does not produce a match, request a text code to access the immunization record.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Health Plan Management System memo to all Medicare Advantage Organizations and Medicare-Medicaid Plans strongly encouraging them to waive or relax prior authorization requirements and utilization management processes as healthcare providers respond to current COVID-19 surges. The action will facilitate the movement of patients from general acute care hospitals to post-acute and other clinically appropriate settings, decompressing acute care hospitals that are caring for seriously ill COVID-19 patients.
Most Large Commercial Health Plans No Longer Waive Cost Sharing for COVID-19 Treatment

Most private insurers are no longer waiving patient cost sharing for COVID-19 treatment, according to an analysis released last week by the Kaiser Family Foundation. Based on data from insurer websites and America’s Health Insurance Plans, almost half of the 102 health plans examined ended their cost-sharing waivers by April 2021 and another 10% expect them to expire by the end of October. Federal law still requires all private plans to cover the entire cost associated with testing when deemed medically appropriate.
