CT Legislature Establishes Work Group to Study Viability of Physician Practices
The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) recently established a work group to study physician practices in Connecticut (CT), pursuant to
The Act requires OHS to study methods to improve oversight and regulation of mergers and acquisitions of physician practices to improve health care quality and choice in Connecticut, study methods to ensure the viability of physician practices, and develop legislative recommendations to improve reporting and oversight of physician practice mergers and acquisitions.
OHS must make recommendations as a result of the study to the General Assembly no later than February 1, 2023 but will work to make preliminary recommendations for the next legislative session.
From Fairfield County, the following physicians were chosen to serve on the work group: Rod Acosta, MD, Alan Kaye, MD, Robin Oshman, MD, PhD (past president of FCMA), and Robert Russo, MD. From Hartford County, the following physicians were selected: Khuram Ghumman, MD (past president of HCMA), and Atique Mirza, MD.
