Connecticut 12th Safest State During COVID-19

With approximately 66% of the population fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but the omicron variant continuing to spread, WalletHub released updated rankings for the https://wallethub.com/edu/safest-states-during-covid/86567Safest States During COVID-19.

WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across five key metrics. The data set includes the rates of COVID-19 transmission, positive testing, hospitalizations, and death, as well as the share of the eligible population getting vaccinated. While Connecticut ranked twelfth overall, it ranked first for vaccination rate.  
Important Deadline on the Provider Relief Fund Monies
 
Those physicians who received more than $10,000 in provider relief funds and failed to submit their period 1 report should act immediately. Between Monday, April 11 and Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11:59 pm ET, providers who have not submitted their Period 1 report may submit a
late Reporting Period 1 report request. Physician practices should receive information about how to submit a request directly from HRSA via email. If a provider did not submit a Period 1 report and does not hear from HRSA, the provider may initiate communication by calling
(866) 569-3522. During the reopening period, a physician must choose an extenuating circumstance(s) that prevented compliance with the original reporting deadline. While attesting to an extenuating circumstance is required, no supporting document or proof is required. If HRSA approves the extenuated circumstances form, the physician will receive a notification to proceed with completing the Reporting Period 1 report shortly thereafter. Providers will have 10 days from the notification receipt date to submit the late Period 1 report in the PRF Reporting Portal. 
CT Medical School Makes Top 10 List

U.S. News & World Report released its annual Best Medical Schools rankings, which include separate lists recognizing leading schools for research, primary care, and each of eight specialties. Yale University was ranked among the top ten for medical school research. 
US Department of Health and Humans Service “Test to Treat” Program

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began a nationwide “Test to Treat” Initiative.

Through this program, people who test positive for COVID-19 will be able to visit hundreds of local pharmacy-based clinics and federally qualified community health centers (FHQCs) to receive antiviral pills. Residents of long-term care facilities will be assessed by a qualified health care provider who can prescribe antiviral pills on the spot. 
Effective March 7, 2022, HHS began distributing oral antiviral pills directly to participating Test to Treat pharmacy-based clinics. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) also launched a program for long-term care pharmacies to directly order these antivirals to facilitate increased access for long-term care residents who are at increased risk for developing severe COVID-19.
