FCMaP Prioritization Deep Water (20-200m)

Florida Coastal Mapping Program Webinar

June 20, 2023

1:00 to 2:00 pm

Florida Coastal Mapping Program (FCMaP) is holding a webinar to:

·        Review 2019 prioritization efforts

·        Discuss where current mapping efforts are focused

·        Encourage broad participation from statewide stakeholders

·        Provide instructions on how to use the prioritization tool

The results of the FCMaP Prioritization - Deep Water will be discussed at the mid-year forum (Sept 14, 2023, virtual) and published for public use on FCMaP webpage and hub.

Accounts will be created for stakeholders to access the online platform to participate in the prioritization. We aim to have 1 representative (POC) from each agency, lab, group etc. to participate on behalf of their organization. The POC will receive additional information in the coming weeks but please fill out the linked POC form so we know whom from your organization to contact.

ABOUT MAPPING PRIORITIZATION

This study is a continuation of a 2019 prioritization study undertaken by FCMaP. FDEP’s Florida Seafloor Mapping Initiative (FSMI) will begin this year and is focused on nearshore (0 to 20m) mapping which was the highest priority area based on the 2019 FCMaP Prioritization.

To complement these efforts FCMaP is conducting an updated prioritization to focus on the 20 to 200m water depth. Participation ensures your organization's spatial priorities are represented in results of this study which will be utilized in planning and coordinating mapping projects across Florida waterways.

This effort would not have been possible without the assistance of many NOAA, USF, and FWRI staff who contributed substantially.
