Spring Fling & Egg Roll 2023
A BIG thank you to our staff for their hard work at this year's Spring Fling & Egg Roll.

We all got a little wet in the morning, but it turned out to be a great day and we all dried off once the sun came out. We had several compliments on social media on a job well done.
Rose Hill Manor Voted Best Museum by Frederick Magazine
What an honor for Rose Hill Manor and our staff to have been voted the Best Museum in Frederick County by Frederick Magazine. Votes for the best of Frederick come in from the Frederick community. It is so nice to see the community supporting our efforts.
Brunswick Elementary School Rec Center - 10th Park School
The Brunswick Elementary School Rec Center will be Frederick County Parks & Recreation's 10th Park School. On this plan we will have the Rec Office (160), the Rec Storage (161A), the Activities Room (161), and the Gym (153). Construction should be complete for the opening of the 2023-2024 school year.

We are in the process of purchasing supplies for the Brunswick Rec Center. Program will operate out of the rec center after school on the weekday and all day on the weekends and in the summer.
Deaf Awareness Training for League & Summer Camp Staff
Our League Staff had the opportunity to participate in ASL Training with Martha Pugh with Wyzant Tutoring. The training with the league staff covered the background on the deaf culture and strategies to use in games. Some of our Summer Camp staff will also be taking this training as our Frederick County deaf community continues to grow, we are learning to enhance our training to help serve them.
Welcome Intern Lauren Bliss

My name is Lauren Bliss, and I am an intern with Frederick County Parks & Recreation. I am a senior at Salisbury University through the Universities of Shady Grove, where I major in exercise science. Through my internship, I have enjoyed participating in a variety of different areas including event planning, adaptive and inclusive rec, and working alongside many supportive, fun people. I have gained valuable hands-on experience in assisting with different populations such as preschoolers, people with special needs, and homeschool groups. I have also been able to expand on my knowledge in exercise science through participating in a variety of sports programs such as archery tag, etc. The best part about this internship is getting to try new things while having fun doing it.
Welcome Intern Drucilla Long

Hello, I'm Drucilla Long. During my internship with Frederick County Parks and Recreation, I have been working with the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation team and learning the "behind the scenes" of creating a program, accommodation needs, inclusion support, and all things adaptive and inclusive! For my final project, I developed the AIR Open House, which is an event for families to meet the AIR staff, learn about our programs, and participate in games/activities with our part-time staff. My favorite thing about this internship is experiencing firsthand what I've been learning through my college classes. I am so thankful for all I've learned within this internship and can't wait for the Adaptive Summer Camp this summer!
