Bob Hicks Retires After 15+ Years with Frederick County Parks & Rec
We hosted a retirement party for Bob Hicks on October 18th. Thank you to Kim Taylor for organizing this event and for many more of you for the hard work and it took to make it happen. The room looked great, and we were able to give Bob a very nice send off after his 15+ years of work with our division.
We wish Bob the very best at Carroll County.

Our First Ever AIR Sensory Trick-or-Treat was a HUGE Success
We had 20 vendors hand out candy/gifts including several
Frederick County Divisions and over 50 registered guest. It was a fun night!!
History Trick-or-Treat Host Over 900 Guest on Oct 27-28th
The weather was beautiful for our annual History Trick-or-Treat
at Rose Hill Manor Park & Museums on October 27th -28th. We had over 900 people come out to the event. Thank you to our staff and volunteers for your hard work.
Frederick County Parks & Recreation - Park Updates
Our Parks Department planted the trees at Othello and Urbana District Parks.
“Tree-Mendous Maryland is a program of the Maryland Forest Service, aimed at helping citizens restore tree cover on public land and community open space in Maryland.” Their goal is to “help Maryland residents have access to affordable trees to plant on their public lands.”
Utica Dary Barn Project is Underway - New Walls Being Installed
Our Parks Crew is Preparing for Winter Weather
Our parks crews have been gearing up for the Winter weather by
preparing snow stakes, putting plows on trucks and getting familiar with
their snow areas so that in a time of need they can act swiftly.
Training Opportunities & Continuing Education
Frederick County Parks & Recreation is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), which includes Free Training and Continuing Education:
Employees who work division events will be eligible for comp time. Please keep in mind, work assignments for all events require supervisor and department head approval prior to signing up and certain positions may require specific certifications or experience.
