Is Snow in the Forecast?

“Is school open tomorrow?”

This is one of our most common questions during inclement weather. This short video describes how Forsyth County Schools monitors conditions, prioritizes safety, and makes inclement weather decisions with care and intention: always keeping students, staff, and families at the center.

Superintendent Young Featured on Smart Social Podcast

Superintendent Young was recently featured on the Smart Social Podcast to talk about how educators and families can make the most of artificial intelligence. It starts with one simple idea: ask better questions. In this episode, Dr. Young discusses the role of AI as a thought partner in education, how we can help students use technology thoughtfully, and why digital safety and critical thinking matter now more than ever.

The FoCAL Center in January

The FoCAL Center is thrilled to celebrate the return of the Penguin Project! This year’s show is Aladdin Jr. and it takes the FoCAL stage January 22-25, 2026!

This year, join Aladdin and his friends on a high-flying adventure filled with magic, mischief, discovery, and one unforgettable, wise-cracking genie. With songs from the Academy Award–winning film and the Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Aladdin Jr. shares a heartwarming message about courage, believing in yourself, and discovering that you don’t need a genie to be a hero.

Penguin Project productions are junior (abbreviated) musicals performed by “artists” with special needs, each paired with a peer mentor throughout rehearsals and performances. All Penguin Project artists are high school students from Forsyth County Schools, making this production a beautiful celebration of inclusion, creativity, and community.
