Family Newsletter

November 2025

Dear FCS Families,

November is a time for reflection and gratitude across Forsyth County Schools. As we move into the heart of the school year, our classrooms are filled with curiosity, creativity, and care—thanks to the partnership between our students, families, and staff.

We’re proud to celebrate recent district highlights, including national and state recognitions for our schools, continued academic growth, and the many ways our students are connecting with others both inside and outside the classroom.

As the holidays approach, we encourage you to take time together to rest, recharge, and reflect on all that’s been accomplished so far this year. Please remember that schools will be closed for Thanksgiving Break from November 25–29.

Thank you for all you do to support our mission of ensuring every child feels safe, connected, and thriving—today and every day.

Forsyth County Middle and Elementary Schools Join High Schools in Rankings

The newly released U.S. News & World Report 2026 rankings recognize our students, teachers, and schools for outstanding achievement at the elementary and middle school level. Our high schools were recognized by the same organization in August 2025.

Elementary Schools: Daves Creek (#4) and Johns Creek (#8) among Georgia’s top 10, with seven of 23 schools in the state’s top 50.

Middle Schools: Riverwatch (#4), South Forsyth (#5), Piney Grove (#10), with all 11 middle schools ranked in Georgia.

These honors reflect what we see every day in our classrooms: students who are safe, connected, and thriving; teachers and staff who go above and beyond; and families who support learning every step of the way. #theforsythway

Celebrating Family Engagement Month: Why Your Involvement Matters

Students thrive when families are actively involved in their education—academically, socially, and emotionally. Research shows that when families are engaged, students attend school more regularly, achieve higher grades, build stronger confidence, and graduate better prepared for the future. That’s why November is celebrated as Family Engagement Month—a time to honor the partnership between home and school and to highlight the vital role families play in their child’s education.

Family engagement can be simple, but its impact is powerful. Here are some practical ways families can support their child’s learning:

  • Talk about the school day – Ask your child what they enjoyed most or what was challenging.
  • Check in on homework & assignments – A few minutes of support shows you care about their learning.
  • Attend a school event or virtual meeting – Showing up—online or in person—shows your child that school matters.
  • Encourage goal-setting – Help your child set a short-term academic or personal goal and celebrate progress.

Every conversation, check-in, and show of support helps students stay engaged, build skills, and achieve academic success.

Together, we build a learning community where every child thrives. Thank you for being a partner in your child’s success—not just this month, but all year long!

Family Engagement In Action- FCS Family Engagement Highlights

Forsyth County Schools partners with OLA Language School to offer English language classes for parents, enhancing family engagement and supporting student success. These classes provide parents with the skills and confidence to communicate effectively with teachers, participate in school activities, and support their children's learning at home. By investing in parents' language development, Forsyth County Schools fosters a collaborative community where families and educators work together to ensure every student is academically successful.

SPARK! Early Learning Program

Forsyth County Schools’ SPARK! program is an early learning program designed to prepare children for a successful start in school. During 90-minute sessions held once a week, children and their parents learn together in a fun, supportive environment. Parents stay with their child and receive real-time strategies, and encouragement from a certified early childhood educator that helps foster early learning and development skills. Each session focuses on key kindergarten-readiness skills such as early literacy, language development, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth. SPARK! empowers families to support learning at home and ensures children enter kindergarten confident, excited and ready to learn!

Pathway Motivate8 Highlights

This fall, Forsyth County Schools launched Pathway Motive8, an exciting initiative that immersed 8th grade students in the exciting world of high school CTAE and Fine Arts pathways. Throughout October and November, students participated in interactive field trips to their zoned high schools, where they explored hands-on learning environments, connected with student leaders, and engaged in pathway-specific activities that sparked curiosity and inspired future goals.

From dynamic welcome sessions and student-led tours to creative showcases and career-focused demonstrations, Pathway Motive8 helped students discover their passions and envision their high school journey with purpose and excitement. Visit our website for more info: https://ow.ly/9Enm50XoAku
