Note from Wade Koehler, Executive Director FCSI - TA
NAFEM turned out to be a great week for FCSI. We started off with a fantastic Trends educational seminar and finished with over 15 potential consultant member applications! Thank you to all of our sponsors and attendees for making the week such a great time. Here at headquarters, we now switch our focus to planning your 2014 Phoenix FCSI TA Conference taking place in April. As always we value your input! If you have any topics you would like covered or theme ideas, please forward them to me at wade@fcsi.org. Lastly, I am very excited to be heading to Santiago Chile next month to do our 1st Trade Show and Reception in South America. Chair Elect Bill Taunton has been instrumental in helping us get this event off the ground and I can't wait to report back next month. Until then, keep up the great work that you all do! Cheers! Wade

We partner with NAFEM, FEDA, MAFSI and CFESA to help fund the IDPC but always need your help with local lobbying when an issue arises.

Letter from Jim Petersen, FCSI TA Chair

Valued Members,
Those of us in the Northern climes who were able to attend the NAFEM show earlier this month have an extra reason to appreciate the time spent there, not just for the learning and networking opportunities, but for the perfect weather we experienced in Orlando. Congratulations to NAFEM on another great show, and we encourage you to mark your calendars for the February, 2015 show in Anaheim.
Our own Wednesday afternoon seminar had 160 attendees, including 55 consultants, and was well-received by all. We encourage you to consider attending the Super-Regionals later this year, and more information will be coming to you soon. 2013 Super-Regional events are scheduled as follows:
September 12-13 Vancouver, British Columbia
September 26-27 Hartford, Connecticut
October 24-25 Atlanta, Georgia
More educational opportunities are available throughout the year through our Educational Provider Program, and we are looking forward to our next Conference in April 2014 in Phoenix.
By now you should have received your hard copy of the inaugural edition of the FCSI Worldwide publication Foodservice Consultant. It is an impressive magazine your clients will appreciate, and a web-based version is also available. Your comments, positive or negative, are welcome as we strive to make this educational and marketing tool even more effective.
Last, we are eagerly looking forward to a special Project Showcase magazine that is scheduled for distribution prior to the NRA show this May. Advertising space is filling up quickly, and if you are interested in considering placing an ad please contact Wade Koehler at your earliest convenience.
We continue our commitment to promoting FCSI and its Members through education, networking, public relations, marketing, and other tangible benefits and activities. If you have any thoughts, comments, or ideas, or if you would like to become more involved by volunteering your time and talents to our efforts, we would love to hear from you.
Best wishes to all,
Jim Petersen
Chair FCSI The Americas

Are You Worthy of Being Considered Among the Best?
|
Next month, three FCSI-The Americas members will help judge Foodservice Equipment & Supplies magazine's annual Facility Design Project of the Year. Scott Reitano of Reitano Design Group in Indianapolis, Kristin Sedej of S20 Consultants in Chicago, Paul Mackesey of Mackesey and Associates in Madison, will help the magazine's editorial team judge the top design project of 2012.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to be considered for this industry award?
First, you need to have one of your projects profiled in FE&S' Facility Design Project of the Month. The 12 projects profiled over any given year are the only ones considered for the magazine's annual Design Project of the Year.
How to get started?
Contact our PR consultant, Pete Wiltjer, with some key details about a recently completed project (anything completed in the past 12 months can be considered for 2013, as well as projects that will be completed in 2013), and he will be glad to work with you to try and get it considered for one of FE&S' monthly design project profiles. What kind of details does Pete need to get started? - Assemble a list of the key players involved in your project, including those in charge of engineering, operations, architecture, interior design, foodservice design, construction, and equipment.
- Client/Owner's name and location of facility
- Date the project opened (will open) to the public
- Size of the project (including storage, main kitchen, dining room, servery, mechanical, etc.)
- Production capabilities (# of daily meals prepared)
- Remodel cost
- Equipment investment
- Website (if available)

While the economy is starting to recover, FCSI understands that some members are still facing financial hardships. In an attempt to alleviate some of these financial pressures, the Board of Trustees has voted NOT to increase membership dues for 2013.
