MY vs. WHY
Christine Guyott, FCSI, RD
|
Spring has finally come to the Midwest, our record 30 inch February snow fall is melting, birds are singing, everyone is coming out of hibernation. Re-new. Re-fresh. Re-commit. What a perfect time to re-evaluate our commitment and involvement in #myfcsi.
As the board and marketing team discussed our new marketing campaign in 2018, we considered #whyfcsi or #myfcsi as our new hashtag. After much consideration #myfcsi was selected and the selection of “MY vs WHY” strengthens the fact that our professional organization is a collective effort made better by all of our individual commitments.
We do get asked #whyfcsi? What comes to mind for me: professionalism, shared knowledge, supportive colleagues, educational opportunities and commitment to excellence in serving our clients. Some question, does being a member provide me more business? Does FCSI send out leads? Do architects or owners recognize FCSI as a brand? Good questions.
I am a proponent of “we get out of FCSI what we put in”. FCSI “gives” you opportunities to showcase your projects in the
Project Showcase and
Foodservice Consultant magazines, to volunteer on committees and meet other passionate colleagues, to attend symposiums and conferences for CEUs and to meet with allied partners who can share solutions. It provides contacts within our media family who are looking for best practice and project stories. In summary, #ourfcsi is not just what FCSI does for you, it is what each individual member promotes to our clients and within our foodservice community. So next time you think #whyfcsi, consider what have I done to promote #myfcsi.

Greetings FCSI Consultant & Allied members,
Not that long ago we all met in Orlando for the FCSI Symposium and the NAFEM Show. During the symposium I encouraged everyone to share a bit of cash with the
FCSI Educational Foundation
. We want to launch new programs and enhance existing programs for the future benefit of all members. As I explored the FCSIEF.org and FCSI.org websites I found that making an online donation was a bit challenging as it was difficult to find the donation page that seemed to be buried in layers of clicking. I am happy to report that both of the sites now make it nearly impossible to miss the EF donation buttons! Thank you to Progressive Content and AEC Management for making it much easier for folks to donate to the EF. I encourage you to take a couple of minutes to consider making a small donation toward our 2019-2020 goal of $200,000.00. I will keep you all updated with our progress as we move through the year. Remember that your cash donation is 100% deductible for your business due to our 501 c3 non-profit status.
I would like to offer many thanks to our first major donor of the campaign, Progressive Content, for their generous $500.00 donation!
Ed Norman, FFCSI (PP)
