Seussical JR.
Seuss’ classic stories retold in an uplifting musical!
Fauquier Community Theatre’s summer youth program actors brought the musical Seussical JR. to life on the FCT stage with much enthusiasm and talent! After a run of 8 performances during the two one-week summer programs, the show closed on August 4. Almost every performance was a full house and audiences of all ages showed their appreciation with cheers and standing ovations!

From the Director Marie-Louise Lyon:
"Seussical is such a fun, dynamic and imaginative show that enthralled audiences of all ages! Our two casts totaling over 75 youth performers portrayed dynamic characters, developed strong vocals, and learned new dancing styles. Seussical allowed our actors to experience the wonder and joy of theater, foster relationships both new and old, and challenged them to expand out of their comfort zones in a safe place. A huge thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and parents who helped to make the summer youth program possible and the amazing audiences who encouraged and supported the actors during every show!"
| |
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, and many other favorite Dr. Seuss characters sprung to life onstage in Seussical JR, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Seussical JR. audience favorite musical numbers included "Oh the Things you Can Think," "Alone in the Universe," and "Notice Me, Horton."

Congratulations and thank you to all, especially director and choreographer Marie-Louise Lyon, music director Larke Pain, assistant director Jennifer Ayers, costumer Mia Dalusung, stage manager Genevieve Layton who also designed lighting and sound along with Cody Yeatman.
Also, a special thank you to all of the volunteers and parents!
Fauquier Community Theatre's production of Seussical JR. was a result of two one-week musical theater intensives for youth ages 8 to 18. Note that the actors in these photos performed in the last 4 performances of Seussical JR. A previous cast performed in the first 4 performances, as highlighted in the Spotlight newsletter last month.
From the Assistant Director Jennifer Ayers:
"Growing up in the FCT family was formative to my passion for theater. Rehearsing for and performing live theater is one of the best ways for children to gain confidence. There’s no activity better for learning teamwork, accountability, and community-mindedness than being in a show like this!"
The production was by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
