REACHING THE HEARING IMPAIRED AT THE JOURNEY
The Journey is now reaching even more people thanks to the addition of Alexis Dietz, who is using American Sign Language (ALS) to interpret the service. Alexis learned sign language in high school to help with reading comprehension. In addition to helping her with her studies, she fell in love with ALS and its culture because she was able to help deaf individuals maintain their independence. "It's what I love to do," said Alexis. The Journey has become something she looks forward to every week. "This is a service that I didn't know I needed in my life." Join us at The Journey and help us welcome Alexis to our FCUMC family!

NOTABLE NEEDS
PLACES TO SERVE

UMCOR: DISASTER RESPONSE
We see a time of great distress in the Bahamas and while we do not know the full extent of damage as of yet, we want to be prepared to serve others in their time of need. The churches of Holston Conference are being asked to unite in support of United Methodist Committee on Relief ( UMCOR ) as they respond to the devastation that Hurricane Dorian has left behind. Here's how:
1. PRAY  for those impacted by the storms, disaster relief teams, and volunteers.
2. GIVE  toward the efforts of UMCOR by writing a check to FCUMC with "UMCOR"   in the memo line , knowing that 100% of your donation is going directly to relief and recovery efforts.
3. MAKE   Cleaning Kits  &  Hygiene Kits.  Click here for detailed instructions. Drop off completed kits, plus a cash shipping fee at the church office.
4. GO!  Our Missions Committee has 2 more spots available for the October 6-11 mission trip to the UMCOR Sager Brown warehouse in Baldwin, LA. The cost of the trip is $230 + $25 registration fee. If you are interested, please contact Sandy Morgan .

ADULTS 50+
COLLECTING STUFFED ANIMALS & WHAT??
Yes! It is time for our annual service project - collecting items for Judge Irwin's Family Court. Each child coming through his court room (through no fault of their own) may select an animal or item to keep. In addition to stuffed animals of any kind, color, and size, we are collecting toys for boys ages 12 and up, who prefer action figures, Match Box cars, and Hot Wheels! If you would like to help out with this worthwhile endeavor, simply bring NEW stuffed animals and/or toys to any 50+ events, including our September 13 luncheon.
