OUTDOOR GATHERINGS
Outdoor gatherings have been approved! On August 10, Bishop Taylor announced that with safety measures in place and District Superintendent approval, Holston Conference churches are able to offer outdoor opportunities for worship, service, and connection. CR North is meeting outdoors on Tuesdays as listed below. Please stay tuned for additional outdoor re-opening possibilities.

Small groups are encouraged to meet outdoors at this time. If your group or class would like to begin meeting outdoors, whether on-campus or off-campus, and in accordance with prescribed protocols, please complete this request form.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY OUTDOOR MEETINGS
Celebrate Recovery North outdoor meetings have been approved by our district superintendent and our church council. CR will meet tonight, September 15, at 6:30 pm on the front lawn of FCUMC on Hotel Rd across from the park. If you would like to join us, all are welcome to attend. However, as our seating capacity is limited at this time, please let us know if you are planning to attend tonight. Please use this link to register yourself and the members of your household who will be attending, as well as review the protocols in place for tonight's meeting. To maintain anonymity, you may enter your first name and the first initial of your last name. Please bring a face mask and your own lawn chairs or blankets for seating, and plan to arrive 20-30 minutes early. If you are not feeling well or if you are at a higher risk because of age or medical conditions, please consider continuing to worship with us online.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY OPEN SHARE GROUPS
Men's Open Share Groups and Women's Open Share Groups will also meet tonight, September 15, at 7:30 pm. As our seating capacity is limited at this time, please let us know if you are coming by using this link to register and to view the safety protocols that we will follow. We are committed to maintaining anonymity and confidentiality so please feel free to register with your first name and the first initial of your last name. Our share groups will take place in larger spaces to maintain proper social distancing. The Men's Chemical Dependency Group will meet in Wesley Hall and the Women's Chemical Dependency Group will meet in the Gym.
Please bring a mask and plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early. If you are not feeling well or if you are at a higher risk because of age or medical conditions, please consider continuing to worship with us online.

FOUNTAIN KIDS
September Week 3: Friend Like Me (Elijah and Elisha)
1 Kings 19:14-21; 2 Kings 2:1-15
Friends encourage one another.
A friend loves at all times. They are there to help when trouble comes. Proverbs 17:17 (NIrV)

In week three, we head to 1 Kings 19:14-21 and 2 Kings 2:1-15 to take a look at a different sort of friendship between Elijah and Elisha. God knew Elijah needed help and directed him to Elisha. Elisha came alongside Elijah and stayed with him to the very end. Elisha knew the importance of encouragement. Our kids are growing up in a world that can feel like everyone is out for themselves. God has a different way for us to live. God wants us to take time out to encourage others. Kids will find out how they can be friends who use their words and actions to build others up.
Weekly Challenge: Be intentional with encouraging words each day.

In addition to Miss Jenny and Miss Donna's weekly videos on the Fountain Kids Facebook page, the So and So Show, Bible Experience and Ollie's Bible Story (for toddlers, three and four year olds) are also available. However, only Miss Donna and Miss Jenny's videos are shareable. Please enjoy all the different ways we tell the lesson each week!

NOTABLE NEEDS
PLACES TO SERVE

WORSHIP AT FCUMC IS ENRICHED BY OUR VOLUNTEERS!
As we continue our online worship and navigate through the various phases of reopening (outdoor worship, outdoor groups, and eventually indoor worship), we invite you to consider how you can serve God at FCUMC. This list of roles will continue to develop as our needs change. As of September 10, we need the following volunteers for our taped services:
  • Check-In Volunteers [Adults] (please watch this video of our Return to In-Person Worship Walkthrough)
  • Traditional Worship: Acolyte [Children/Youth/Adults]
  • Traditional Worship: Crucifer [Youth/Adults]
Please SIGN UP HERE . Thank you for serving!

HURRICANE LAURA: JOIN THE RESPONSE
Prayers abound for the communities in the path of devastation from Hurricane Laura which came ashore last month in Louisiana and Texas as a Category 4 Hurricane. UMCOR, United Methodist Committee on Relief, is providing funding to meet immediate needs of victims of Hurricane Laura. During this difficult time for so many, you can help, too. Please consider making a donation to FCUMC with a notation that the gift is for UMCOR Hurricane Laura Relief. "Carry each other's burdens and so you will fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2

KARM NEEDS OUR CONTINUED SUPPORT
During the months of January, February, and March, 214 donations from those connected with FCUMC were received at KARM Stores. These donations included both gifts of time and household items. As a token of their appreciation, KARM has shared $640 in gift cards with our church to help out members of FCUMC and our community who may need a little extra help at this time. They also shared $570 in gift cards from 144 donations and volunteer time during April, May, and June. We have shared some with our ministry partner, Fountain City Ministry Center. If you know someone who is in need of KARM gift cards, please contact Ashley Garren.

If you have begun to clean out your closets in transition to the fall season, please consider donating clothing and household goods to KARM. Please let them know you are with FCUMC so that our church can continue to bless others.

In addition, KARM is in need of volunteers at every store to sort through donations. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please email KARM. Volunteers must bring their own masks when serving at KARM Stores, and should be prepared to have a good time working alongside their team!

COVID COMPASSION: Want to love your neighbor during this stressful time? Click here to sign up to run errands, call, or write notes to our homebound and those in isolation, all on a flexible time schedule.
