The TBDWG is the official advisory committee established in 2016 by Congress in the 21st Century Cures Act
authorizing the HHS Secretary to establish a group comprised of federal and public members with diverse backgrounds and opinions concerning tick-borne diseases.
To date,
recommendations proposed by the
TBDWG have outlined the need for increases in federal resources for urgent research and patient care needs, including enhanced surveillance, prevention, diagnostic and treatment options.
LDA President, Patricia V. Smith, was appointed for a second term as one of the public members of the TBDWG. As witnessed during the first meeting, Pat will continue to be a voice for patients and advocate for the growing number of those who are chronically ill from Lyme disease.
