FDA Commissioner to Join DTC National for Exclusive Fireside Chat

We’re pleased to officially announce a major addition to the 2026 DTC National.


FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, MD, MPH, will join us for an exclusive fireside chat.

This marks a rare opportunity to hear directly from the head of the FDA in a candid, moderated conversation focused on the evolving landscape of direct-to-consumer advertising.


Dr. Makary, a practicing surgeon and nationally recognized healthcare leader, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2025 as the 27th Commissioner of Food and Drugs.


About the Session

This fireside chat will be a moderated discussion between Dr. Makary and Bob Ehrlich, CEO of DTC Perspectives. The conversation will explore the FDA’s current thinking and broader direction as it relates to DTC advertising and industry engagement.

About Dr. Makary

Prior to joining the FDA, Dr. Makary was a surgical oncologist and professor at Johns Hopkins University, where he also founded the Center for Surgical Trials and Outcomes Research. A widely published physician and policy voice, he has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and three New York Times bestselling books on healthcare, transparency, and cost.


He has led national research efforts across cancer care, public health, and patient safety, and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
