FDA extends comment period on animal compounding GFI
In response to requests from stakeholders, FDA has announced a 120-day extension to the comment period on draft Guidance for Industry #256 on animal compounding. The new comment deadline is June 17, 2020.

"In our January meeting with FDA officials, they indicated a strong desire to get broad and substantive input on the draft," said APC chief executive officer Scott Brunner, CAE. "This deadline extension gives us more time to engage veterinarians and animal owners and get their feedback. We think it's important for FDA to hear their concerns. It also allows APC and its partners sufficient time to document our stated concerns about the GFI with evidence and research and to engage members of Congress on the proposal."

APC, NCPA and APhA had requested the deadline extension in a letter earlier this month.
