FDRA Joins Large Retail Letter to President Trump
Over the weekend, FDRA joined a large multi-association letter to President Trump urging that the Administration ensure the stimulus package being debated benefits all retailers and their supply chains. Addressing retail through the stimulus remains critical, because as the letter highlights, "retail is the largest private-sector employer, with 52 million workers — fully 1 in 4 U.S. workers — directly or indirectly employed in retail and related businesses, such as manufacturing, design and logistics." Both the House and Senate are considering economic response measures this week to address the economic fallout from the coronavirus.

FDRA has led and supported a number of letters to the Administration as it prepares the economic relief package, which you can read here:

We will cover the latest developments on our weekly FDRA coronavirus call on Tuesday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
ICYMI: CBP Duty Payment Extensions
NOTE: We will cover this issue on our weekly coronavirus call tomorrow.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced Friday evening that it will accept requests for duty payment extensions due to the severity of the coronavirus. On March 18th FDRA led a multi-association letter urging the Administration to implement this delay in duty payments.

According to the announcement, CBP will approve the delays "on a case by case basis." CBP made the announcement through the Cargo Systems Messaging Service, and we expect CBP to release a formal Federal Register Notice in the coming days with more details.
