Feast for Habitat on May 20th

Get ready to eat, drink, and do a whole lot of good! Join Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity on May 20th at rkMiles in West Hatfield for the annual FEAST for Habitat. It’s the ultimate local food showdown where you get to be the judge - sample incredible sweet and savory bites from neighborhood restaurants, sip on the Valley’s finest brews and wines, and vote for your favorites! Between bites, you can browse silent auction items, soak in the sounds of a live local jazz ensemble, and see firsthand how your support helps Habitat build homes and community.

Don’t miss out on a delicious night and help build a better future, one plate at a time!

Food Security Infrastructure Grants

MDAR is excited to announce that the FY27 Food Security Infrastructure Grant (FSIG) is now accepting applications through May 4th. The goals of the grant program are to increase local food production and consumption; enhance mid-supply chain capacity for processing, storage, and distribution to local markets; build a safer, more resilient, and accessible food supply; and benefit underserved and/or under-resourced communities

Eligible projects must be equipment purchases or infrastructure improvements. Awards will range from $10,000 to $500,000. A 20% cash match is required, and all funded projects must be completed by June 30, 2027.

Housing for Transition Age Foster Youth

The Three County Continuum of Care invites you to a Community Meet & Greet focused on improving housing outcomes for young adults transitioning out of foster care in Western Massachusetts. Our community (Franklin, Hampshire and Berkshire counties) has been selected to participate in a year‑long learning project in partnership with consulting firm, Westat. This project brings together housing providers, child welfare professionals, and people with lived experience to strengthen housing supports for transition‑age foster youth. By participating, you will help shape a Peer Continuous Learning Collaborative (PCLC)—a space where communities share insight, test ideas, and help inform future housing policy and funding.

16th Annual Daffodil Run on April 26th

The Daffodil Run helps sustain the power of youth mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters by connecting adult mentors with young people in our community. Once matched, they go on to build a meaningful, positive relationship that empowers the potential inherent in each child. This community event has become the first marker of spring for the town of Amherst and draws hundreds of people to the area to participate and cheer on their family and friends.

Vote for Community Action Board Members

Community Action Pioneer Valley is currently holding elections for Community Representative Board Members to represent low-income community members. To be eligible to vote, you must live in either Franklin or Hampshire counties and currently have an income of less that 175% of the Federal poverty rate (see chart here). Please spread the word! Community Action Pioneer Valley believes that people living with low incomes deserve to have a voice in how local anti-poverty programs are run.
