In beautiful South Shropshire an area of outstanding natural beauty
NEWS FROM MOORHALL

Well the music festival is well in hand with still a few days before it actually happens, so meanwhile I thought I had better alert you to other things that are happening here at Moor Hall. Although maybe first I need to tell you about the wonderful family wedding we have just attended down South. Being away for a few days and spending a relaxing time with family was such a tonic and much needed.........and WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING IT WAS.

Unfortunately, all has not been well with me again and I have spent the passed two weeks in hospital with kidney failure. I am on the mend now thankfully and hope to be home for the festival.

THE BETTWS TRIANGLE

17th , 18th, 19th June 2022 ~ 11.00 to 5.00
Building on the success of last year’s music and arts festival in the hills at Black Mountain Chapel, Bettws y crwyn, we are holding another festival this year. We have called it the Bettws Triangle, but we promise you will not disappear! This time there are three venues, Black Mountain Chapel, (SY7 8PJ), St Mary’s Church, (LD7 1UD) and Moor Hall Studio, (SY7 8PH) each hosting an array of top musicians and community choirs over three days, all complemented by an exhibition of watercolours by Josie Crompton-Morris at Black Mountain Chapel and my art students work (Moor Art 1 and 2) at Moor Hall Studio.

There will be a fantastic line up of musicians and singing groups including, Lisa Beznosiuk, Richard Tunnicliffe, John Kirkpatrick MBE, Benji Kirkpatrick, Sue Harris, Polly Bolton, BouZaTina, David Reynolds, Sue Arnaboldi, Rapsquillion, Men From Off, John Hymas with the Presteigne Pop Choir, Castle Voices, Castle Carols and Clunsing.
There will be two performances each afternoon at each of the three venues.

Come along to experience the creative life in Bettws-y-crwyn. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the uplifting, stirring and often ‘fun’ music in this glorious countryside, Bring your boots and enjoy a walk along the quiet lanes between the three venues?

During this busy two-day you will investigate ‘Line’ through a series of design and stitch exercises, and develop ways of working with papers, paints, fabrics and threads to explore this essential element. Experiment with ink, collage paper and cloth backgrounds, and then embellish these with linear marks in print, hand embroidery and/or machine stitch.
The emphasis will be placed on making lots of small samples to fill a sketchbook which can be used as an aide memoire for future work, but there will also be scope to make a larger composition if preferred.

Landmarks ~ Recording 'Place'
A great course for those that care for nature and the environment, delivered by a very knowledgeable tutor.

This course aims to open our eyes to what is around us, finding the potential in the ordinary. With a focus on objects and marks collected on short walks from the studio we will explore various different techniques, making use of what we find.
Explore a range of different methods to record experience of landscape, engaging with the detail of what you find around you. Through a range of techniques including mark making, rust printing, mono-printing and botanical contact printing you will explore different ways to respond to your ‘collections’ and use them as a basis for artists books and samples, forming a personal record of your experience.
