FEBRUARY 2011 CLASS SCHEDULE

Love's month, that's what February is. Knitters, crocheters, and sewers know a lot about love since it drives their passion for fiber and fabrics. Aside from fueling their creativity, love also gives them plenty of reason to create beautiful things for family and friends. So show your love this month by taking a class and learning something new to create for you and yours. And Happy Valentine's Day to all!!!

PROJECT CLASSES:

Turkish Bed Socks Saturdays, Feb. 5 and Feb. 19, 2-4 p.m. Fee: $40. Teacher: Susan Wells
We just got in THE most exciting sock yarn called Frolicking Feet hand-dyed by Done Roving. The colors are deeply saturated and this super wash merino is delightfully springy with a Koigu-type twist...perfect to make a pair of Turkish Bed Socks. Don't let the word "sock" scare you. The ingenious construction of these socks is amazing and without a cuff, they knit up quickly! For advanced beginners.

Kitchen Art Sewing Class:

Saturday, Feb. 12, 2-5 p.m. Fee: $30
Teacher: Judy Thacker. Don't do boring in the kitchen! Learn to sew one of these colorful oven mitts with some of judipatuti's fabulous fabrics (she got several new bolts in this week!). For beginners. Sewing machine available on 1st come, 1st serve basis. 10% off the pattern and all fabric purchased for in-class use.

Pattern Reading Class:
Sun., Feb. 20, 12-1:30 p.m.
Fee: $20
Teacher: Susan Wells

Confused by the shorthand used in knitting patterns? We'll learn to decipher it. We'll also learn how to substitute yarns based on the stated gauge and yarn content.

Flower Patch Pillow
Sat., Feb. 26, 11- 2 p.m. Fee: $30.00 Teacher: Judy Thacker
Learn to sew one of these fun and colorful pillows to welcome Spring into your home. For beginners. Sewing machine available on 1st come, 1st serve basis. 10% off pattern and all judipatuti fabric purchased for in-class use.

Prepayment Required for All Classes.

In order to reserve a seat in a Project and/or Basic Skills Classes, prepayment is required at least 5 days prior to the class. Refunds will be given to those who cancel within 5 days prior to class. If a class does not fill, we will refund your class fee promptly.

Cable Braided Necklace Knit Along (KAL):

Thurs. Feb. 17, 6-8:30 p.m. Fee: $15 for 20 grams of Tilli Thomas' Disco Lights. Facilitator: Susan Wells.
Tilli Thomas' Disco Lights in Natural is 100% silk with petite sequins so it is the perfect yarn for this project! The simple pattern (free on Ravelry) is knit in stockinette. with simple yarn overs. According to the pattern, you can finish this at the KAL. Seats reserved upon receipt of payment.

Tiramisu Baby Blanket

Saturday, Feb. 19, 1-4 p.m. Fee: $30
Teacher: Susan Schlesinger Learn to crochet a miniature version of this darling baby blanket in Blue Sky's Worsted Cotton. You will have all the skills you need to do a large one by the end of class. Must know basic crochet stitches. The pattern is a free download from Ravelry.

Mini Sweater Finishing Finishing Class:
Sundays, Feb. 20 & March 6, 2-4 p.m.
Fee: $80 for both 2-hour Sessions
Teacher: Eileen Adler

What better way to learn to finish a sweater than to knit a mini one? Come to class with the front and back knitted and learn Eileen's bind-off for the shoulders, how to pick up stitches for the sleeves, bind-off the cuffs in garter stitch, and seam the sides with Mattress Stitch. Materials list and homework provided upon payment of class fee.

Chevron Lace Cardigan
Sundays, Feb. 27 ad March 13, 1- 3 p.m. Fee: $40.00 Teacher: Susan Schlesinger
This spectacular crocheted cardigan is a perfect transitional sweater. Blue Sky's Sport Weight alpaca is a perfect yarn choice and their range of colors are incredible. This is a top down pattern so there is little finishing. It's a great project for those who know basic crochet stitches. The pattern is a free download from Ravelry.

BASIC SKILLS CLASSES:

Beginning Knit Classes:

Sat. Feb. 5th, or Sat. Feb. 19, 12-2 p.m. or Wed. Feb. 23. 6-8 p.m. Fee: $20. Learn how to match the needle size to the yarn, cast-on and knit a scarf. Return at your convenience and we'll show you how to cast off. Prepayment required. 10% off yarn purchased for class.

Beginning Crochet Class: Sun. Feb.6, 1-3 p.m. Fee: $20.00. Learn basic crochet stitches and how to crochet the beautiful "One Skein Scarf" in the Happy Hooker (offered at 10% off for class participants).
Classic Beanie Class:

Sundays, Feb. 6 and Feb. 20, 2-4 p.m. Fee: $40. This is the follow-up class to Beginning Knit where students will knit a gauge swatch, learn to purl, decrease, and finish a simple beanie. Free shop pattern provided in class.

Drop-In Sewing Project Day:

Saturdays, Feb. 12, 11-2 p.m., and Feb. 26, 2-5 p.m.
For those who know how to sew basics but can't figure out a pattern instruction or are otherwise stumped with a sewing project. Drop by for judipatuti's expert assistance. Free for those working with judipatuti fabrics. Otherwise, fee is $10.00.

Susan's Work Days: If you need expert knitting advise or help selecting yarns, I would love to be of assistance. I plan on being in the shop at least these days: February 1&2, 10-16, and 24-28. I am available to advise you on patterns and purchases on my days off at no charge. Just call the shop at 619-284-7684 to schedule an appointment. SHOP HOURS: Tues-Sat. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sun. 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.; Closed Mondays.
