FORUM: Healthy Environments, Child Development and Equity
First 5 Marin is excited to welcome Harvard University to the Marin Communications Forum!
The February 27th forum will be a presentation by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard-- all about the impact that a child's environment has on their physical and emotional development... and the equity issues raised by the environments in which children are raised.
Joseph Wilson from the Center on the Developing Child will speak about the impact of built and natural environments-- the places where children live, play and learn. The impacts, positive or negative, may be immediate as well as lifelong.
Equity issues arise from where a child lives in general (California, Marin County vs Los Angeles or Louisiana) and specifically (Corte Madera or the Canal, Marinwood or Marin City).
Equity issues are also part of where a family chooses to live... or can afford to live. And how a family chooses to spend their time... or how they can afford to spend their time.
"The science on early childhood development provides evidence that, beginning before birth, environmental conditions shape how children develop-- which in turn shapes their lifelong physical and mental health."
Join us for what promises to be a very informative online presentation, followed be an interactive discussion-- and YOU are invited to participate!
