February's NEW "Winter Show and Shine" Event
We were scheduled to have our February meeting / event in the southwestern part of our division which was originally scheduled for February 14, 2026, (Valentines Day), but it was changed to February 21, 2026.
Due to the extreme weather we have been experiencing, we have also decided to move the February 21, 2026, meeting to our main location at the Wethersfield Police Department's Community Room.
This central location will minimize travel for the majority of our members. We will return to a rotating meeting location when the weather improves and will pick up with the western portion of the Division.
We will also be trying a new format for this meeting / event.
There will not be an actual clinic.
This will be an informal "Show and Tell" event in the spirit of a railroad prototype modeler's (RPM) meeting. We are asking members to bring in a model or two, rail fanning photos, electronics projects, railroad historical artifacts, etc. Anything that you think would be of interest to your fellow members. Set up at the table where you're seated, grab a coffee and donut, and let members come over and talk to you, and you can also move around the room and converse with others as well.
Your topics are unlimited. Do you want to show people how you strip the pad printed lettering off a piece of rolling stock, are you a JMRI guru and want to show people how easy it is to use, show a construction technique, build a turnout using a Fast Tracks jig, how to light a structure, show off part of your railroad library, show off railroad related artifacts from your collection, or show off your photography skills? Anything rail related is just fine.
Do you have an unfinished project? BRING IT TO THE SHOW AND SHINE EVENT! Members love to see works in progress to learn how people construct their models. Also, do you have a project that is stalled? Bring it to the event and explain what is holding you back from completing the project. The collective experience of our members will probably give you multiple ways to get your project back on track towards completion.
This eliminates the stress of formally speaking to a group, you're just having conversations with fellow train enthusiasts over coffee and donuts. This also gives our regular clinic presenters a break and lets them enjoy everyone's modeling and rail fanning, too.
Since this will be the first time for this type of meeting for the Nutmeg Division, we are curious to see how many people plan on attending so could you please respond back to Ron Pelletier only if you are going to attend.
Please Note:
The scheduled time of some of the activities have changed from past meetings. Please take note.
