FLOWER POWER - IKEBANA ENTREES:
Bas and Alison, owners of Cal Coast Orchids located in Los Osos, generously donated orchids for use in IKEBANA creations for this show!
These orchids will be available at the gallery from Thursday, February 4th through Monday, February 8, during regular gallery hours of 12-4pm. Florists are encouraged to take what they need and work on ikebana arrangements in the activity room. Other foraged materials will also be available.
Floral artists are encouraged to submit completed entry forms with IKIBANA arrangements on Monday, February 8th, 12pm - 4pm. IKEBANA entries will also be accepted during regular take-in, Tuesday, February 9th, 10am - 2pm.

FLOWER POWER EXHIBIT - OPEN TO ALL MEDIA
2D: Wall hung art including paintings and photography
3D: Jewelry, Pottery, Glass, Wood , Sculpture and Ikebana floral designs.
MBAA MEMBERS: may submit up to (3) 2D entries at $5. per entry. Plus, up to (3) 3D entries from $1. to $5. per entry depending on item or size. Plus (1) ikebana floral arrangement $5.
NON-MEMBERS may submit the same number of items to this exhibit by doubling entry fees.
MBAA retains 25% commission on sold items. Sold items may be replaced free of additional fees as they sell.
Flower Power is a slogan emblematic from the counter culture of the 1960’s. During the Summer of Love, flowers became powerful symbols of peace, a concept plucked from Buddhist art.
This exhibition will embrace the diversity of florals through 2 dimensional interpretations, from scientific illustration, abstract, photorealism to large free style creations in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography, digital media and mixed media. In addition, 3 dimensional artworks may include ceramic, glass, wood and floral.
THE ROLE OF THE VASE featuring vases. Artists may submit up to three ORIGINAL vases.
IKEBANA - art object of flower arrangement
will feature work of botanical artists, green professionals, flower growers and floral designers. This Ikebana exhibit is inspired by the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement.
Requirements for entry:
- vessel made by artist, purchased or vintage/please mark origin of the vase on entry form/
- vessel has to be stable and watertight
- use of live plants and flowers, use of foraged or dry plants / no purchased dry flowers /
- use of foraged or created by nature materials like wood, stone, shells, feathers etc.
- max height 4ft, max with 15 inches
- artist has to replace parts when they wither, photo of the artwork will be taken and artist noticed by phone
- Art Center will water the arrangements /please include directions on entry form/
- author will replace the piece when sold
During take-in (exchange), artists are asked to line up outside the patio gate and practice social distancing. Thank you all for wearing a mask.

During art exchange, please help us keep each other safe. Here's what you can do to help things run smoothly:

Print out forms and wire tags. Fill out paperwork ahead of time. If you do not have a printer, we have forms available for you. Wire Tags & Forms

Enter through the patio gate. Please stay 6 feet apart while you wait for a volunteer to help process your art.
- Have your check/cash ready.

Check membership status ahead of time.

Update memberships online when possible.
- Stack artwork inside facing the wall.

Exit through front door with art to be picked up.
- It will not be necessary to sign out at this time, due to social distancing.
