Hi Friends!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's great time to check out a fun and affordable social dance at the Park, the perfect date night activity! We've got dances in a variety of styles throughout the month of February, including a special Valentine's Swing Dance with Gottaswing on the 14th. No prior experience is necessary, and you never need a partner. Social dances include a beginner lesson, so you can easily try out a new dance style—maybe you'll fall in love with it!

This Sunday, February 1, do-si-do and swing your partner at an afternoon Bumper Car Squares dance! Due to the weather, we'll meet up in the (heated!) Ballroom Back Room for some square dance fun with caller Becky Hill and live music by Cathy & Marcy's Old Time Coalition.

Calling all swing dancers! The Grandsons return to the historic Spanish Ballroom on Saturday, February 7 for a night of swing dancing, presented by the Glen Echo Park Partnership. This 15-time WAMMIE award winning band was once described as “American music in a blender with the lid off!” A beginner lesson (free with the price of admission) will be taught by Ellen Engle & Marc Shepanek of Flying Feet Enterprises. Join us for some pre-Valentine's Day dancing! Bring your current sweetie, or meet a new one on the dance floor. Let's swing the night away in support of the Social Dance program at Glen Echo Park. Ticket sales help us bring even more great dances to the Park in 2026!

Co-presented with EducArte, Sarau de Samba is a joyous monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture. Each session starts with a beginner dance lesson and is open to people of any skill level, no partner or instruments required. Join the celebration at the next Sarau de Samba on Sunday, February 15!

The Partnership is thrilled to present Salsa & Bachata y más!, a brand new monthly dance series combining our Back Room Salsa Nights and Bachata y más dances into one special night of Latin Dance! We'll start the evening off with beginner lessons in Salsa & Bachata followed by open dancing with a DJ. This series will meet on the third Friday of the month in the Ballroom Back Room, open to all levels of experience. Expect friendly faces and effortless connection; No partner? No problem! We'll rotate partners and foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

In addition to our fabulous social dance events, Glen Echo Park also hosts social dance classes in a variety of styles at various levels. Browse the Mindful Movement & Dance Technique section of the catalog to find classes that introduce you to new styles or improve your technique in styles you already love. Registration for Winter 2026 classes is ongoing and registration for Spring & Summer 2026 classes opens Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10am EST.

Our pilot Dance for PD® class series, presented in collaboration with Dance for PD® (Parkinson's Disease), continues in February! Classes meet Wednesday afternoons in Arcade Building Classrooms 202 & 203 and are free for participants, care partners, and family members thanks to the generous support of pilot program donors. Sign up is encouraged, but walk-ins are also accepted.

Enjoy a fun, weekend workout with DanceFit: Line Dancing, a dance fitness class that teaches the basics of line dancing. Drop-in to any of our Saturday morning workouts at the door, pre-register in advance to grab the early bird discount, or try the 10-class package! Due to capacity, a limited number of registrations will be available in advance and at the door. Doors open at 11am; avoid the line by registering in advance. Classes will meet in the Hall of Mirrors Dance Studio in February, so please bring shoes that have not been worn outside!

Read on to see more Social Dances at the Park this month, including blues, waltz, folk, contra, and lots more! Keep an eye on our Social Dances page to stay up to date with future dances! We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support.

Keep on Dancin',
