Caps for Cancer
All of you who knit, crochet or sew are urged to take up your needles or hooks and begin making caps again for the cancer patients who lose their hair because of chemotherapy. We'll have a Blessing of the Caps on Valentine's Day, Sunday February 14th...and then take our gifts to the American Cancer Society in Bryan. There are cap patterns on the Heartline Desk  if you feel called to this ministry.

DAY SCHOOL NEWS

One of our Little Lambs enjoyed his first experience with playdough recently. With Ms. Angie nearby to encourage him to explore with his senses and sharing descriptive vocabulary with him like, "soft, squishy and orange", he delighted in the experience while exercising his grasping and squeezing skills.  This is what it is all about folks!
This little guy can look forward to many more interesting and varied sensory experiences as he progresses through the classrooms at the Day Sch ool.  It may seem unimportant on the surface, but varied experiences with playdough and other sensory materials like sand, water, dry beans and rice, along with  measuring cups, funnels,                                     malle ts, scoops and other tools offer rich opportunities for major development, that to children seems like play.  Make no mistake though, this play is work!  They will gain information about their environment, compare and contrast, use all of their senses, assign new vocabulary to new awareness, develop fine motor skills needed for  writing, discover cause and effect, make choices and decisions, designate  quantities, discover properties of matter, understand gravity, stability, weight and balance, realize volume and measurement, develop perceptual awareness skills and so so much more!  This is just a fraction of what is happening at your Day School!  Come on by and see for yourself!

In Christ,
Ginny Gaskamp

Christ Lutheran is a community of followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that God's great love for humanity is revealed in Jesus and that through faith in him, we can have a true relationship with God and one another. We believe that this faith comes to us by God's Spirit in us and others, and by this Spirit that we are called to care for people in need and all of creation. We're not perfect and we don't claim to have all the answers. We just believe that faith is a journey which always leads to God's love for us and along the way, a meaningful and abundant life. We also believe there's room for everyone on this journey. So, all are invited to join us as we walk this life together.
