🌟 Donor Highlight 🌟

Bonnie Abel: Nothing Bundt Cakes, West Hills

Our Newest CORPORATE CHAMPION!

Thank you to our long-time community friend and partner whose generosity over the years has brought joy to the hearts and palates of our members and supporters through her donations of delectable Bundt cakes. Bonnie eagerly donates cakes to our Club Members celebrating their accomplishments and milestones achieved in school, Club and community, and to our Club activities and special events. Bonnie gives monetarily both personally and through store held fundraisers, further demonstrating her care and concern for our communities youth. In January as they celebrated 12 years at their West Hills store, she hosted a fundraiser for the Club. We highlight her business this month for finding creative ways to support our efforts and then matching that gift too.

THANK YOU for your continued partnership!

Thank you Martin M. Cooper, SoCalGas, and Barnes & Noble!

Did you know March is National Reading Month? With that in mind we can't help but think about the incredible turnout we had last year for our 16th annual Cooper Reading Challenge! Members were so excited trying to find the perfect book(s) to bring home for the holiday season.

⠀

A very special THANK YOU to our supporters, SoCalGas and Barnes & Noble, everyone who donated, and founder of the Cooper Reading Challenge, Martin M. Cooper for making this event possible each year. 💙 ⠀

February Club Highlights

Check out this past month's happenings:

Passionate Work Program

Our Board Member, Justin Grooms, and Future Ready Director, Juliette Guerrero, have collaborated to develop a wonderful program called Passionate Work. Community Members volunteer their time to connect with our High School members and discuss their career path, skills, and experiences. The goal of the program is for members to discover their true passions. Thank you Justin and Juliette for this wonderful opportunity our high school members get to experience.

Valentine's Day

Love was in the air at Blythe Elementary! Our members created heart-shaped puppets to celebrate Valentine’s Day amongst their peers.

Music Instruction w/ Alex from Get Together Foundation

Thanks to the help of our music instructor, Alex from the Get Together Foundation, our members have had the opportunity to explore music in many ways; some of which include learning tempo, understanding music notation, matching rhythms and more! Introducing members to music at such a young age is a great way to increase their coordination and understanding of rhythm!

STEM

This month’s STEM challenge had members tasked with creating a stable structure using only cut-up pool noodles and toothpicks! The challenge was to see which team could make the tallest structure that could stand alone without support. Pictured above are some of their creations!

Keystone

Keystone members open up their snack shack. During this activity, members fundraise within club hours, and learn how to handle a small shop.

Dollars Raised in January

As donors and members, we want to thank you for supporting the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Your collective gifts generated the following breakdown to the organization.

Join the Monthly Giving Club

As an individual who values the work of the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, you can make an immediate difference when you become a monthly donor. Monthly givers help provide high-quality programs which serve the kids and youth across the West Valley during the most critical hours of the day, after-school.

  • A monthly gift of $10 provides one afternoon of services for one kid every month.
  • A monthly gift of $25 helps to subsidize one kid's transportation to the Clubhouse for one day every month.
  • A monthly gift of $50 provides supplies for one class offered to 20 kids every month.
  • A monthly gift of $100 provides a STEM kit for one class of 20 kids every month.
  • A monthly gift of $250 provides two weeks of summer camp programs for one kid.

We serve the kids daily because you partner with us on our mission to inspire and enable every young person, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible adults.
