YMCA OF METROPOLITAN DALLAS
ASSOCIATION NEWS
HEART HEALTHY MONTH
February is American Heart Month, and we encourage you to prioritize your health by getting a blood pressure screening. Blood pressure guidelines from American Heart Association indicate that nearly half of all Americans (46 percent) have high blood pressure. While high blood pressure and heart disease are serious conditions, the good news is that a healthy heart is achievable through lifestyle changes such as lowering sodium intake, eating healthier, and getting more physical activity. Getting help can be as easy as contacting the Y and participating in the many community health programs our YMCA provides.
YMCA DAY OF GIVING
We are excited to announce that YMCA Day of Giving will be held this year on March 7th! YMCA Day of Giving is an annual one-day giving event that allows you to give to your local YMCA. The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits, supporting communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

A HEART ATTACK AT 41?
Being young does not mean you aren’t at risk. Despite a healthy lifestyle, Rockwall resident Erika Livingston, 41, was shocked by a heart attack following the warning signs she ignored. Read her story, then take Texas Health's heart health assessment to discover your own risks.
