NEFAR GIVES BACK TO LOCAL NONPROFITS!!

FEED THE NEED OF PUTNAM COUNTY is so grateful for the community partners that we have. NEFAR Northeast Florida Association of Realtors recently did a hunger fight bulk food packing event in Jacksonville. This is a annual event and the food goes to local nonprofits. FTN was blessed to receive 20,000 meals from this event last week along with a check from NEFAR in the amount of $6000. FTN Board Member Leota Wilkinson wrote a grant and FTN was awarded these funds to purchase food. Big shout out to Ben Bates for putting in a good word for Feed The Need and Savanna Williams for staying on top of FTN receiving this. Also a special thanks to Glenn East CEO of NEFAR in Jax for believing in our mission in Putnam County. Thank you all involved we could not feed 800 students weekly without each of you.

Apple Juice & Apple Sauce Answered Prayer!!

Denise Bramlitt was sitting at work one day wondering where she was going to get drinks for the next 2 weeks. We gave out a whole pallet of bottle apple juice this week, over 1600 bottles! It goes quick this way so sitting at her desk at 4.30 she text her friend Sandra, the director at Waste Not Want Not of Orange Park. She told her we could use some more drinks if she had anything because we got a whole pallet last week from her and we gave out this Tuesday . Sandra said be here at 9.30 Friday morning bring a truck!! So her awesome husband Ralph Case came to the rescue. It’s really hard to find volunteers available at the last minute to make these trips. A big thank you to Waste Not Want Not and Sandra for always helping feed students in Putnam County!! Not only did we get juice we got more apple sauce too. This is a typical occurrence for Executive Director Denise Bramlitt and through the power of prayer and her relentless spirit she makes it happen. There have been several instances since food shortages began where we wondered where we would get what was needed but God always provides when we need it. We are truly blessed to serve this community. Thank you to each and every one of you who’s hand is in this ministry of feeding local students.

Waste Less Feed More!!

It's crazy to think of how much food goes to waste every single day. If you have any nonperishable food items that might go to waste you can donate them to Feed the Need of Putnam County. We feed 800 plus students every single week for over the weekend. It is becoming more difficult to purchase bulk food so donated food items are greatly appreciated and needed. Things we typically send in weekend bags are raviolis, beef-o-roni, spaghetti-o's, red beans & rice, mac & cheese cups, peanut butter, jelly, breakfast bars, snack bars, fruit cup/apple sauce, juice boxes, capri suns, tuna or chicken salad. We also have some schools that go above and beyond and provide family meals so items that are family size can still be utilized. Donations can be dropped off at Bramlitt's off of Highway 19.

WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!!

At Feed The Need of Putnam County we truly have the best volunteers & we are so incredibly grateful for them. They come every other Tuesday to pack food in the warehouse. Food is loaded onto pallets according to school. We could not do what we do without these amazing individuals. If you would like to be in the volunteer group text to join the Tuesday Warehouse fun please text Diana Jones 386-546-8032.

BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: RENEE HOUGH

Roughly 1 in 6 Putnam County students are considered to be food insecure. Feed the Need of Putnam County works hard to provide over the weekend meals and snacks to local food insecure students. It takes a team of people working together to provide food to 800 plus students every single week throughout the school year. One very important part of that team is Renee Hough. Renee is the Director of Career Technical Education for Putnam County School District, AVID director and is a direct mentor to the teachers of FFA programs. Renee has dedicated her life to God, family, agriculture, and education, making a positive impact on every life she touches. Her contributions to this community are endless. Renee is on the Putnam County Fair Board and runs the “Ag Village” at the fair each year. Renee has a wealth of knowledge and is always providing new ways to spread awareness and involve students. As a Board Member of Feed The Need she acts as School District Liaison helping to organize the backpack program in schools and ensuring they run smoothly. We are so incredibly grateful to have Renee as part of the FTN family.
