Wow! The FEI Dallas Winter Social at the Perot Museum this past weekend was a fantastic success, a throwback to the 1980s with great attendance and engagement by Dallas members and sponsors. Also, attendance for the inaugural G.R.O.W. CFO Series – Growth, Resources and Opportunities for Women – in January had about 80 in attendance, a very strong start for an important new Special Interest Group.
Every event this year has delivered on the Go Big or Go Home mantra in some significant way. Thank you to the committee members and sponsors of these two events for your support of FEI Dallas activities and initiatives. Winter Social: Sunflower Bank, Holmes Murphy, Sewell. GROW Special Interest Group: Katten, Grant Thornton, Truist.
Our next monthly meeting is on February 13th at Norwood Club. Retired Admiral Patrick Walsh will update us on China issues affecting the United States, and KPMG will deliver their annual Accounting and Tax update. We continue to have high participation in our monthly meetings with limited seating available as we approach registration deadlines. Register early before you end up on the waitlist.
The national FEI Financial Leadership Summit is in Orlando this year, May 19-21, open to FEI members and non-members. Please consider attending. The destination and programming are superior.
Save the Date for FEI Dallas’ last big social event of the year, a Topgolf Tournament & Speed Networking Social on May 7 at Topgolf Park Lane. Watch our Monday events emails for more details and registration. A great menu of sponsorship opportunities are available, contact Sponsorship leaders Warren Rapert or May Lee Harris, or Jackie Dunn, FEI Dallas Manager, for more information.
Dallas Special Interest Groups have always delivered great subject matter content for our members involved in a particular industry or area of interest: Manufacturing/Distribution, Private Equity, Technology, Healthcare, Real Estate, Restaurant/Retail, Energy, and the new G.R.O.W. SIG (Growth, Resources and Opportunities for Women). I strongly encourage members to attend these SIG events, and to invite your peers who qualify for FEI membership.
A reminder to FEI Dallas members and sponsors to be sure to watch your email as registrations open for numerous events or visit the FEI Dallas website – www.feidallas.org – to see a listing of upcoming events. These amazing programs and events are the result of a lot of collaboration. Committee members, sponsors, and chapter staff work hard to make this schedule possible. Thank you all for your effort.

Data as an Asset
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the challenge of turning data from an afterthought into a core facet of business operations that drives value. Organizations can become paralyzed because they don’t know where to begin, but the right data strategy can change the mindset of a company from using data for incremental growth to using it as a transformational element in an organization’s success. Join us to learn how to unlock the value of your organization’s data and develop and implement a clear data strategy that allows for flexibility and change. We’ll discuss how to position your data as a strategic corporate asset and how to develop a data governance program to manage, monitor and protect your data.

Manufacturing/Distribution CFO Series
Leveraging Digital Twins to Drive Supply Chain Performance
Gleneagles Country Club, 5401 W. Park Blvd., Plano, TX 75093
Senior executives have increasingly turned to digital twins as a means to digitally replicate their end-to-end supply chain and identify new opportunities to leverage existing processes, people, and assets within their firm, their supplier network, and in their customers’ downstream operations. Digital twins replicate real-world operations, capture ground floor processes, and transform them into a live data stream. Then, through the lens of artificial intelligence, executives can identify the critical variations that are causing inefficiency, lower production, or unsafe environments – in real time. This session provides key insights into how leading organizations are using digital twins to drive supply chain performance and to identify new opportunities for reducing time, labor, and waste across firms.

Strategies to address the new SEC cyber disclosure rule (and how to do it!)
The SEC recently released a new cyber disclosure rule requiring public companies to disclose information about their cybersecurity governance practices as well as impacts associated with material cyber incidents. While they include information on what is required to be disclosed, they don’t address how organizations might design their processes and controls to accurately address those disclosure requirements. One approach may be to utilize the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) cybersecurity risk management framework.
