The Role of the Press in Setting Narratives in Financial Markets
This workshop will explore the role of the financial press as an information intermediary between corporations and investors. It will highlight how the financial press improves market liquidity by leading to a better-informed investor base. It will also provide insight into how slanted media coverage potentially distorts investors’ perceptions of financial events. Finally, it will provide an overview of how media coverage surrounding negative corporate events can influence non-market outcomes such as litigation risk.
