Different Priorities at Different Stages of Life – Perspectives and Priorities of the Millennials and the Baby Boomers
The Millennial generation is known for being tech-savvy, pursuing their passions, and disrupting many industries. They're also known for shouldering multiple financial burdens specific to their generation: coming of age during the two recessions of the financial crisis and now COVID, student loan debt, inflating living costs, unexpected expenses, and needing to save more for life milestones.
On the end of the spectrum, many financial executives are hard-charging, “Type A” personalities that burn the candles on both ends throughout their working career over many decades. Yet most will eventually make a major life transition into the golden years of retirement, where things may slow down and new priorities and possibilities emerge. While it sounds fun and easy, some find this transition challenging for a variety of reasons. Eventually, we reach our final years. Along the way, many of us will help parents or other relatives who are approaching their final years even sooner.
Many in the workforce are dealing with one or more of these life topics, and there is a clear correlation into employee productivity and effectiveness.
