November 2020
Chapter Happenings and Updates
Message from Chapter President Anita Moulton
and Executive Director Rosanne Bump
Amidst the pandemic, the last eight months have provided many opportunities for us as financial leaders to endure, change, improve, and pursue new and different directions and business opportunities. Your FEI National organization, local FEI Twin Cities Chapter and Strategic Partners have been there with you providing literally hundreds of virtual programs focused on addressing pandemic related issues and sharing best practices of interest to financial leaders. We appreciate your input and are adding some future offerings with more virtual networking opportunities and some fun activities!

Watch for the soon to be released FEI National 3rd Quarter 2020 Sentiment Survey results with our members' answers to questions pertaining to regional and national economic sentiment. The survey input from our members, who hold policy-making positions as CFO's, Treasurers and Controllers at companies from every major industry is highly regarded and issued quarterly (previous results here).

Have you have noticed the explosive growth in the FEI Twin Cities Chapter's presence on social media outlets like LinkedIn and Twitter and YouTube with recordings of many of our virtual programs? Please join us in posting your comments and liking and sharing our posts and videos.

We appreciate your membership and are always interested in your input and suggestions!

Thank you. Stay well.

Sincerely,
Anita Moulton, amoulton@feitwincities.com
Rosanne Bump, rbump@feitwincities.com

Diversity and
Inclusion Update

FEI is devoted to encouraging environments and actions that display dignity, respect, fairness, peace and equality. It is through this commitment to personal and professional conduct that our members will continue to challenge their peers and our organization to rise to a higher standard.

Here is an update on the many activities FEI Twin Cities is working on:

National Task Force: Judy Wright continues to be active and attend these meetings as they continue to work on programming and creating mentoring initiatives.

FEI/NABA Mentoring Partnership: Mentors from the Twin Cities have been identified and several matches have been made with NABA students based on their desired interest and study field. Let us know if you're interested in being a mentor!

Additional Partnerships: Our Board of Directors continue to explore relationships with other organizations to build and create a diverse organization.

Board Unconscious Bias Training: We are partnering with our Strategic Partner Marsh and McLennan to participate in training so we can recognize our own unconscious bias and reflect on these barriers to inclusion. MMA's model
  • Uses a simple approach to change automatic responses—leading to more intentional and inclusive workplace decisions.
  • Allows us to learn and practice a strategy for being more inclusive—leading to increased innovation, full utilization of all our talent, and better business outcomes.

D&I Workshops and Webinars: Brent Lonson and other FEI Board Members have been instrumental in arranging upcoming workshops. Look for more in the coming year. We hope you can join us for these sessions!

  • Friday, November 20, Noon-1 PM, Minnesota's $60B Minority Economy - Moving Minneapolis Forward featuring Jonathan Weinhagen and Dr. Bruce Corrie. • Wednesday, January 13, 11:30 AM – 1 PM CT, Moving Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forward — Back to Business featuring Tawanna Black.  Protests have risen around the globe to advance racial equity, inclusion, justice, and respect. Companies seek to move these goals forward, but also want to know that their actions are making a difference. So, what are the key indicators of an inclusive economy? And, what can financial executives and board members do to advance inclusive growth and prosperity in the communities served by their companies? This is a joint event with NACD. More information available soon!

The Prouty Project is a 33 year-old boutique management consulting firm that specializes in strategic planning and leadership development. We exist to creatively stretch leaders to achieve bigger goals, bolder strategies, and better collaboration. We start with a blank sheet of paper and design a process – in a collaborative way, with our clients – to help them achieve their objectives. In pursuit of creative thinking, our work is always experiential and engaging; we leverage music, laughter, and movement in all that we do. We live by our values: curiosity, adventure, and generosity. And we do all of this by leading with questions and possibilities to co-create the best solution, stretching our clients and ourselves to chart a course beyond comfort zones, and making the word a better place by contributing our time, talent, and treasure.
