A Lenten Attitude

A father was attempting to explain to his 10-year-old son the necessity for giving up something for Lent. In fact, the father suggested that his son give up candy.

Quizzed by the boy about this kind of religiosity and what it would bring, the father replied that "it will improve your character. You'll be a better person on Easter  Sunday if you give up candy. After all, your mother and I have given up liquor for Lent."

"That's funny, Dad. I saw you and mom having a drink before dinner last night."

"That was wine. We gave up hard liquor."

"Oh, that's good," the boy said. "I'll give up hard candy."

Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for a short devotion and a walk through the park on Wednesdays.

When we need to cover a large area, we need a solid foundation. A solid spiritual foundation helps us plan our feet in God's grace at work in us - loving, forgiven, and healing us even when we feel unlovable or broken.
Welcome to FFUMC Connie!

Connie Emmons, our new hostess/food service coordinator shared the following about her life.

I am a mother of three and grandmother to nine. I grew up attending Maple United Methodist church in Battle Creek. I have been in the food service industry for over 48 years beginning young by helping my mother cater. In my second year of Junior Achievement, I ran a restaurant company. Over the years I have worked in numerous types of restaurants and gained experience and knowledge. I went to nursing school but found myself back in restaurants. I have a true passion for restaurants and successfully owned two as well as two other businesses. My most recent restaurant was Connie's Kitchen in Seymour, TN. I sold the restaurant two years ago due to injuries, but still cater part-time. I am currently the president of Knoxville Tri-County Lions, Zone chair for Lions, Remote Area Medical core volunteer, and a Live-It volunteer. I look forward to getting to know the congregation and working with you.

Raising of the Cross

We are blessed to have wonderful volunteers who helped "raise the cross" near the fire pit on Tuesday. The cross was from our previous building and holds special memories  our members. Thank you to all who help!
