Summer Choir Opportunity
Come Join Us!

This summer's combined worship service offers a new opportunity for Summer Choir.  We will not practice on Wednesday evenings.  Instead, join us as we practice on Sundays during June and July.  We will practice in the Worship Center following worship (11:30-noon) beginning June 2.  Watch for more details soon.  We hope to see you!
Gleaning Opportunity at
Dixie Lee Farmers Market

We will be "gleaning" the Dixie Lee Farmers Market on the 3rd and 4th Saturdays of each month, taking the produce to the Good Samaritan Pantry in Lenoir City. We start with May. At the close of the market each Saturday we will pick up the produce that vendors choose to donate. This shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. It is a great chance for individuals and families to join in one of our ministries to fight hunger. This is part of our support of the Society of St. Andrew (one of the hunger ministries we support). To learn more about how you can participate in this ministry, contact Alvin Jenkins (865-986-6107 or a.l.jenkins@att.net).

Godly Play will wrap up on  May 26th. We are excited for the children to join us in the one worship service all summer long. Nursery will still be provided for children birth through pre-k.

What an exciting time in the life of First Farragut!  As we celebrate Pastor Don's years of service in the United Methodist Church and here at FFUMC and look forward to what God is going to do here in the ministry of our new Pastor, Rev. Martha Scott, I hope you'll find a place amidst the busyness to plug into worship, service and fellowship.

Here are some upcoming things to be aware of:
  • Summer Worship Schedule:  For the nine Sundays in June and July, we will have Morning Prayer/Devotion at 9 a.m., Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and Worship at 10:30 a.m. We have some really exciting things in the works for worship so we hope that you'll make plans to join us. Also, help us spread the word about the schedule and our theme (One Summer, One Purpose, One Church) - if you'd like to buy one of the shirts you'll see our staff wearing the next few Sundays, see me on Sunday.
  • Vacation Bible School (June 24-27; 6:00-8:30 p.m.): If you haven't registered your kids, please do so. We're expecting a big group this year, so we need your registration soon. If you're volunteering and haven't let Paige (pmorgan@ffumc.org) know, please do that also. Beginning this Sunday, there will be a board on Main Street with needs for supplies - please check that out and help us make this another great VBS experience.
  • Church Potluck (June 30 at noon): Join us after Worship on June 30 to celebrate a great week of VBS and to honor and celebrate Don's ministry as he retires.
  • Service Opportunities: Check the bulletin for lots of upcoming ways we can serve God and neighbor together, including Food Buckets for Zimbabwe, Gleaning Projects at the Dixie Lee Farmer's Market and the upcoming week of Family Promise.
There is always something going on at First Farragut, and I hope that in the midst of normal summer craziness, we can all take time to invest in what God is doing here!

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself."

May we do both through worshiping and working together in the coming months.

Blessings,
Chuck
Church Work Day - Saturday, June 8 from  8:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.

We need workers to help weed and mulch our church grounds. Even if you can only stay one hour, it would help. We also need wheelbarrows. If you have a wheelbarrow we could use, or have any questions please contact Clark Brekke (cjbrekke@gmail.com) or Judy Westenhaver (ken_judy_home@charter.net).
Join the Fight Against Opioid Addiction

The 872 United Methodist congregations of Holston Conference are raising more than $100,000 to battle the opioid crisis that is tearing away at their communities in East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and North Georgia.

Offerings FFUMC for this mission will be collected until
June 2 . Please write "2019 Annual Conference Offering" on your check. The offerings will be taken to the Holston  Annual Conference   in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. The conference is June 9-12, 2019. Later this year, the funds will be distributed through grants to churches that want to fight drug addiction in their communities.
Thank you to Jeanette Krupski for sending our college students goody packages! The packages were delivered before exams. Please email Randee ( admin@ffumc.org ) if your college student graduated. Don't forget to email your updated address for the 2019-2020 year.
2019 Hands-On Mission Project  -  T ennessee Valley District

Please check the Missions table for flyers with a list of items needed for buckets. The average cost to fill a bucket is about $25. You may fill a bucket or purchase individual items.

The Serving Team will provide buckets, lids and shipping costs for buckets. All donations are needed by Sunday, June 2.
On Sunday, our VBS Donation Board will be up! Please take a sticky note and return your donation by June 2. Thank you!
