In the United States National Advance, we support the Appalachian Service Project, Red Bird Mission, and the Society of St. Andrew. Your generous donations to the Serving Team Easter Offering in 2018 made it possible to support these ministries. This Sunday, Palm Sunday, we come to Holy Week, and its opportunity to reflect on the Lord's passion. In my own soul, I want to go slowly through the week. I prefer not to rush to Easter, but to mourn awhile because of what's going to happen to our Lord.

William Willimon, in his book, Thank God It's Friday, Encountering the Seven Last Words from the Cross, prays, "...if we could explain it, figure it out, get a grip on the cross, then we wouldn't need faith in you. Please, Lord, be more to us even than an explanation. Be our salvation. Deliver us from our lust for final elucidation. Save us from our best and worst selves; do that for us which we cannot, in our sin, do for ourselves. Go ahead and save us, no matter what you have to do. Amen."

I'll meet Holy (Maundy) Thursday and Good Friday services with somberness, then I'll greet Easter Sunday with joy! And as persistent as the dandelions growing in my yard, I'll continually bear witness to God's saving and redeeming love.
