Doctor forcibly removed from United Flight
A video posted to YouTube on 4/10/17 features a physician passenger who was forcibly removed from a United Airlines flight by law enforcement on Sunday ( 4.9.17) after refusing to give up his seat. The incident occurred on the plane before takeoff at O'Hare International Airport. According to several reports the doctor needed to work at the hospital the next day, so he refused to volunteer.

David Dao, the doctor who was dragged off a United Airlines flight and found himself an instant internet celebrity as a result, has taken steps to sue the airline, and his lawyer said he is a "poster boy" for bullying by airlines.
Value Based Care Programs Reduce Hospital Readmissions, Study Finds
According to authors Andrew M. Ryan, PhD, Sam Krinsky, MA, Julia Adler-Milstein, PhD, Cheryl L. Damberg, PhD, Kristin A. Maurer, MPH and John M. Hollingsworth, MD, in a JAMA Internal Medicine research report published online April 10, 2017:

In this longitudinal study of 2837 US hospitals between 2008 and 2015, we found that participation in 1 or more Medicare value-based reforms-including the Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records program, the Accountable Care Organization programs, and the Bundled Payment for Care Initiative-was associated with greater reductions in 30-day risk-standardized readmission rates under the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program.

According to the study authors:

Our findings lend support for Medicare's multipronged strategy to improve hospital value.
