I am grateful for the work of our marketing and communications team which allows us to easily share information with one another via our newsletter. I have a couple of things to share:
- Dr. Daily, Dr. Thao, Tom, Liz and I completed the last of 2022’s quarterly onsite visits this week. It was so good to be back in person with all of you and we look forward to continuing these in 2023. We are also grateful for your engagement and the questions asked during these meetings. We will be sharing a summary of the questions and answers in the next week or so.
- Challenges, change and accompanying stress are often unavoidable. One of the most helpful things I have found to help me deal with this everyday stress is a simple breathing exercise. Most of us do not have time during a busy day to devote to lengthy practices or exercises. Fortunately, we only need a moment or two to make a positive difference. Below is an exercise I use frequently with good results. It is called Square or Box Breathing. Give it a try if you are interested! It is simple… you just breathe in specific counts, while visualizing a box:
- Inhale to the count of 4 as you visualize the top edge of a box. Gently hold for a count of 4, as you go down along the right side. Exhale for a count of 4, moving from right to left along the bottom edge. Hold for another count of 4, going up along the left side, back to the top. Repeat for several cycles for a minute or 2.
-
If you’d like to try a guided demonstration, view the video– 1 Minute Box Breathing by Conscious Works on YouTube.
Kind regards,
Laura Waldvogel
