FHLC Corporate Buzz

February Edition

A Message from Our COO

Hello!

The workflow groups for Medical and BH have been assigned and the teams are starting to meet this week to work on their specific workflows. We are still on pace to have everything wrapped up in the next 6 weeks. Kim has also been working with Compliatric to develop a solution to create a central depository of all our workflow, standing orders and other approved documents. We will be taking these documents and creating "learning Themes" by job title. These learning themes will be assigned to all clinical new hires as part of their on-boarding process to ensure that everyone has the tools they need to be successful prior to being released to the clinical floor. We will be sharing more details in the weeks to come! In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or our Regional Directors.

Last week we had a visit from the State agency that oversees pharmacy. This was a planned visit to check initial opening requirements. We are pleased to announce that everything passed with flying colors. On the same note, over the past 4 months we have been working with the State to address our corrective actions with our lab in Wautoma. Just last week we received notice that they accepted our work and closed the case. Thank you to Kim, Sarah and everyone else that played a part to put us back into compliance. This was a big lift and everyone did an outstanding job!

As you all are aware, LabCorp go live is happening on Tuesday, February 13th. Training has been completed. These trainings have also been recorded for those that still need it or would like to go back for another review. Two LabCorp staff will be floating between all our sites on Tuesday and Wednesday to assist with any questions. Furthermore, they have hired a phlebotomist for Wautoma who will be in training over the next few weeks. As a reminder, as our medical services grow in Stevens Point and Beaver Dam, we will be revisiting adding additional phlebotomist to support our operations.

Kind Regards,

Ivan Coziahr

Children's Dental Health

During Children's Dental Health Month, let's empower our children with a deeper understanding of oral health. As parents, the way we educate our children about this vital aspect reflects our own commitment to dental wellness.

Meet Jesus Cervantes, Patient Services Navigator!

I have been with FHLC since June of 2023. I started with the mobile clinic, then I became a PSN it is very rewarding helping people who need extra help. I like to spend time with my family, occasional shopping trips, hiking. Whenever I can I like traveling and experiencing new experiences. I love music, one of my favorite things to do is go to concerts. One of my goals is to increase my knowledge to further my education, while helping out my community.

Meet Felicia Rodriguez, Communications Specialist!

I have been with Family Health La Clinica for about 7 years now and it has been a pleasure working for the community we serve and working along side my co-workers. I have learned a lot about healthcare during my time here and have enjoyed learning new skills. I appreciate the opportunity to pursue my true passion for Marketing.

A little bit about myself, I live in Wautoma (native) with my husband and two children - boy and girl. I enjoy spending time watching movies, playing with my kids and going to the gym. Last year I committed to improving my health, emotional and physical. I have dedicated the last year of consistent exercising 4-5 times a week, including weekends. Not only has the gym helped me with my body transformation, it has reduced my stress and mental health levels dramatically. I have also encouraged my husband to get back to the gym as well. My personal goal, is to involve myself in a 5k run/walk this year. During the summer, my family and I try to spend a lot of time outside, either on the bike or just in the back yard. I also like to clean a lot, yes clean! Its really therapeutic for me knowing that my home is clean but I am also realistic that my cleanliness won't last long with my children.

I am very excited to share that since October of 2023, I was given the opportunity to be part of the Wisconsin Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society (WHPRMS) as the Board of Director of events. This opportunity will give me the possibility to learn more about the industry, network with other industry leaders and experts, further develop my skillset and find my niche.

REVENUE CYCLE

Open Enrollment Season Wrap-up

Open Enrollment has come to an end as of January 15, 2024. During this time individuals can freely enroll in or change their selection of health insurance plan on the Market place. The team assisted 155 individuals with their Market Place Enrollment and 313 individuals with Medicaid enrollment assistance. Additionally, 49% of our patients notified early of their upcoming renewal through our automated tool have already maintained their coverage. Making this Open Enrollment season a much smoother success for the team.

Even though Open Enrollment has ended, the Patient Services Navigators (PSN) will continue to assist Individuals with the Public Health Emergency Unwinding and lapses in Medicaid coverage and Special enrollment periods.

All of FHLC’s PSNs are Certified Application Counselors for the State of Wisconsin, and given their considerable success this year, they would like to share some thoughtful words.

  • “ This was my second year with Open Enrollment and I feel that this year was smoother and I did have many renewals. In general the whole process was a lot easier this year and we want to thank the wonderful Scheduling teams for their help.” says Cynthia Nino
  • “I enjoyed helping patients that did not have health insurance, there were a few patients that stand out in my mind that were really grateful for the assistance we provide and the help with Market Place. I am thankful I can be a resource to the community.” says Danielle Peet
  • “Helping people is my passion, I really enjoyed open enrollment and to be a resource for others and help them reduce barriers. I would like to thank my co-workers, it is a team effort.” says Laura Fernandez
  • “It makes me feel good to help others, and not have individuals worry or stress out about health Insurance. Informing individuals about health care that is available to them even if they moved from long distances, there are tons of options that are available”. says Jesus Cervantes
  • “ Navigating Health Insurance can be stressful even when there is a deadline on it. Being able to help Individuals in our communities with both Market Place and Medicaid makes being a PSN a great resource.” says Makayla Giese

The Public Health Emergency Unwinding started in March 2023 and will continue to go through 2024, we will continue to provide additional updates about the unwinding throughout the year.

Gift Ideas for the Whole Family

Whether you're browsing for the perfect gift for your children, your significant other, or even treating yourself at any of your favorite stores let the spirit of unconditional love guide your choices. Whether you're unleashing your creativity through DIY crafts or letting your savvy shopping skills do the talking, there's something truly special about expressing love through thoughtful gestures. Below are some gift ideas for this Valentine's Day!

For the kiddos.....

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know children are overjoyed with any token of affection—be a box of chocolates, a cuddly stuffed animal, a tub of playdough, or a coloring book. Their joy serves as a reminder of why parenthood is so rewarding.

Gift baskets with sugar, spice and everything nice is a great way to provide your little ones with a variety of gifts that will last them a few hours, or until they break and/or throw them away. LOL.....Reality!

You could always go with something like:

  • Books - for the child that loves to read
  • Video games - for the Mario, Minecraft, Lego, Fornite players
  • Barbie dolls - for daddy's girl
  • Bracelet making kit - for the fashionistas
  • Clothes - never hurts to have a new ensemble
  • A Yes Day - remember breathe, it's just for one day
  • Slim - never fails
  • Movie - with popcorn

For him.....

Have you ever found yourself thinking what to get him for V-day, well your not the only one. Men can either be easy or difficult to shop for, but fear not. A gift for him can be as simple as writing a cute sticky note and placing it in his lunch box, a new screw driver to add to his collection, underwear and socks never fails or a nice cologne.

Think outside the box, most men are fans of steak. Yes, steak! How about surprising your significant other with this delicious one of kind shaped heart steak. His reaction will be priceless.

Or you could go with something like:

  • Personalized boxers - he will appreciate these
  • Bluetooth beanie - for the music lover
  • Compact leather key holder - will eliminate the annoying jingling in his pockets
  • Foot roller massager - to relieve his aches and pains
  • Leather jacket - for special occasions
  • Beard grooming kit - for the no shave November individuals
  • Gift basket - play it safe with all of his favorite goodies

For her.....

Ladies are not as complicated as everyone thinks. Small gestures, flowers, a love note or a day with no children are just a few ideas. Most women, not all, but majority just like to feel appreciated, valued, heard, romanticized or just know that you think of them. Take some time this Valentines Day and think of something nice to gift her.

Put yourself in her shoes, what gift do you think she would enjoy. How about a Spa day?! She could enjoy relaxation time either in person or at home. Keep in mind, spa time at home means uninterrupted time. So take the children out for a few hours so she can capture the full essence of relaxation.

Or she may just fall in love with with these:

  • Jewelry - you can't go wrong with diamonds
  • Pajama set - sleeping comfortable provides her a good nights rest
  • Underwear, socks and bras - like men, women also need these items
  • DIY it - show her that you really care with your creativity
  • A night out in the city - take her out, show her a good time
  • Planned trip - make more memories
  • Gift basket - you could also play it safe and get her all of her favorite goodies

Hope these ideas have inspired you to think about everyone in your life on this Valentines Day!
