Howell of Fame Nominations are Open!
The Howell of Fame awards recognize members of the Francis Howell community who have made significant contributions to the District. The award is one of the District’s highest and most prestigious honors and is designed to recognize volunteers who go above and beyond in service to our schools and/or facilities. FHSD employees are also eligible for the award if they have contributed to their school or the District above and beyond their regular job responsibilities.

In order to keep Prop S construction timelines on track, the Board may conduct Special Board Meetings to allow for more nimble and timely approvals. Virtual meetings may be utilized when there are only one or two items up for approval and the meeting is expected to be brief. Follow BoardDocs for updated information.
PROP S - This month, the architect for the Francis Howell North project met with Principal Dr. Nathan Hostetler and staff members from the academic and athletic departments to discuss design plans for the new FHN. The project's Construction Manager At-Risk, S.M. Wilson, provided a Schematic Budget for the FHN campus. A schematic site plan, which shows the existing and proposed developments to the campus, was submitted for review to the City of St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission. A package for multiple security vestibules throughout the District was sent out for bids from local contractors, with construction to occur during the summer.

COVID Testing - In correlation with the decline in COVID cases throughout the County and in the District, the COVID testing clinic has seen a significant decline in appointments over the past week. The clinic will continue to operate Monday-Friday, but the hours will be adjusted to 9 a.m. to Noon. The clinic will operate with these hours until spring break and then we will re-evaluate. Registration for 2021 Summer Camps is now open. Elementary camps include STEM, Team Sports, Art and Robotics. Middle School camps include App Camp, STEM, and Biomedical Science. Learn more.

High school juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 2, at their home school. Meanwhile, students in grades 9, 10 and 12 will participate in a virtual day of learning on March 2. Learn more.

High school students interested in learning about a career in carpentry and the St. Louis-based training program that may lead to one should tune in March 4 to hear from experts in the field. Learn more.
Sophie Delaney served as the Student Board Representative at the Feb. 18 Board of Education meeting. She is a Francis Howell Central student-athlete holding a 4.4 GPA. As a member of the women's basketball team, she earned the Ultimate Spartan Award, the Varsity Teammate of the Year Award (x2), and was named the weight room representative. She also served as the Principal Council President and Vice President. She plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall to further her basketball career and attend a school with high rigor.
Ashlynn Perez, a senior at Francis Howell North, took home two first place honors in the 2021 Scholastic Writing Awards Contest (Missouri region). Winners were selected from hundreds of submissions received throughout Missouri and the Kansas City, Kansas area. Winning pieces will be published in Missouri Youth Write, an online publication which will be available in June 2021. First place, or Gold Key, winners like Ashlynn move on to the national level. Read more.
Isabelle Delarue, Francis Howell North senior, passed Lisa Kowaleski as the high school’s leading scorer for women’s basketball in a game against Fort Zumwalt North (FZN) on Friday, Feb. 19. The leading scorer record had been in place since 2001 and was held by Kowaleski with 1,368 points. Delarue’s performance aided FHN’s victory over FZN (59-23). Her points total will be finalized at the end of the season. Read more.
Minnie Adams, a senior at Francis Howell North High School, was selected as a co-winner of an art contest for St. Charles County high school students. As a winner, Minnie will re-create her concepts on canvas and the finished artwork will be installed at the CCRB office in May 2021. Adams was mentored by her art teacher, Courtney Flamm. Read more.
Becky-David Elementary students are spending the month learning about digital citizenship. Today, students talked about how to tell if a website is age-appropriate – using an internet traffic light strategy!
It's the 100th Day of School. Passing this milestone during such an unprecedented year is cause for celebration! Students are 100 days smarter. Some even found they have the wisdom (and appearance) of a 100-year-old!
The Diversity Awareness Group (DAG) at Francis Howell High School is highlighting inspirational Black individuals during Wednesday announcements throughout Black History Month. Schools across the District are participating in similar announcements as well!
Hackmann Early Childhood held a celebratory parade for one of its students who is heading back to her home country in Africa. She has been in America receiving multiple surgeries that assist with hip and leg movement. Her host family gave her the opportunity to attend preschool.
Francis Howell Middle School student Olivia Wright advocated for increased accessibility at the City and County level – and succeeded!
“Now I can be just like everyone else,” she said. “I can walk places just like they can. It’s 10,000 times safer.” Read more.
Congrats to Francis Howell North High School Science Club students Emma Rohrbach and Marcus Otto who ranked fifth in overall quality in the 9-12th grader category of the 2020 U.S. Crystal Growing Competition. Read more.
