COVID-19 Cases Continue to Decline; Masks are optional
Around the United States and here in St. Charles County the reported cases of COVID-19 continue to drop. New daily cases in the U.S. have decreased by almost 50% in the last two weeks and we are seeing a similar trend here in the District. As of today, there are fewer than 10 known positive cases among nearly 20,000 students and staff. As of February 7, 2022, masks are optional for students and staff in FHSD buildings. Masks continue to be required on school buses due to a federal transportation order.
Updated Academic Calendar: Last Day of School Now June 2

Because of the snow days earlier this month, the last day of school is now June 2. As a reminder, for the 21-22 school year, some snow days must be made up and others are forgiven.

  • The first three snow days will be made up at the end of the year.
  • The next three snow days (#4, #5 and #6) will be forgiven (no make-ups for these days).
  • In the unlikely event the District experiences more than six snow days this year, snow days #7, #8, #9 and #10 will be made up at the end of the year, making June 8 the last possible day of school.

Canvas Learning Management System

Dear FHSD middle and high school families,

In 2020, FHSD implemented Canvas as an online learning management system (LMS) at our middle and high schools. Teachers use Canvas as an online learning platform for blended and online teaching and learning. An LMS is a platform for creating lessons, organizing and delivering content and courses, and assessing data performance. Additionally, an LMS offers centralized curriculum and content management, standards-based tacking, collaboration and multimedia tools, and a central repository for shared digital resources.

Parents can sign up for an account and access online course activities in Canvas, such as assignments (due dates, missing grades, and assignment grades), classroom announcements, and mobile app access.

View the short introductory parent video on how to access Canvas.
Additional information regarding Canvas is posted on the District website.

Please note, according the the rollout plan, Canvas will be implemented at the elementary level during the 2022-2023 school year.
