Updated Academic Calendar: Last Day of School Now June 3

Because of the eight snow days experienced this year (five AMI days and three traditional snow days), the last day of school is now Tuesday, June 3. The current school year calendar has been updated to reflect all snow day impacts to date. Any additional snow days will further extend the school year.

Meet Your Board of Education 2025 Candidates

Four candidates will be on the April 8, 2025 ballot for two open seats on the Francis Howell School District Board of Education. The open seats are currently held by Adam Bertrand and Randy Cook. BOARD CANDIDATE FORUM: Mark your calendars for the Board of Education Candidate Forum hosted by the student publications teams from Francis Howell Central and Francis Howell High School. The doors of the Francis Howell Central High School Auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be live-streamed for the community. Francis Howell School District Board of Education Continues Search for Next Superintendent

Francis Howell School District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Roumpos will resign at the end of the 2024-25 school year to become the Superintendent of Kirkwood School District. The Francis Howell Board of Education unanimously voted to release Roumpos from his contract effective June 30, 2025. He will continue leading the District through the school year and collaborate with the Board and Executive Cabinet to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

The District has begun its search for a new superintendent. Finalist interviews are scheduled for early March 2025, with the Board expected to make a selection later this month. The new superintendent will assume duties on July 1, 2025. For more details on the search process, visit the district’s website.

The Board of Education received a construction update at its meeting on February 20. FHSD Director of Facilities and Operations Salum Stutzer’s presentation was live-streamed and is available on the District's YouTube channel.

Harvest Ridge Elementary School hosted a ribbon cutting for their new playground on February 7. Nine of the ten elementary school playgrounds are now complete. The final playground being upgraded at Henderson Elementary is expected to be finished later this month. The elementary school playgrounds were all completed with the Prop S funding approved by voters on June 2, 2020.

Register Today! Family Learning Series - March 8

Join us for the next Family Learning Series on Saturday, March 8, beginning at 9 a.m. at Saeger Middle School. Mental Health specialists with the Francis Howell School District have organized a series of informative sessions focused on Healthy Minds, Healthy Schools. Topics offered will include ADHD, anxiety, stress, social media and mental health. Childcare will be provided for those who RSVP by the end of the day on March 3.

Senior PALS Dinner and a Show - March 10

The Francis Howell School District is excited to invite all new and returning Senior PALS to dinner and a concert scheduled to take place on Monday, March 10 at Saeger Middle School. Residents ages 55 and up are invited to be VIPs at the Spartan Community Band Concert. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The musical performance begins at 7 p.m. Sign up for the Senior PALS event here.

High School Seniors' Last Day of School

Due to snow days, the last day of school for the senior class is now Wednesday, May 28. View the updated calendar.

Watch Francis Howell High School's step team perform for John Weldon Elementary 5th graders. Central Elementary students also performed for their classmates at a schoolwide assembly.

Last month, FHSD staff participated in 4E safety training as part of our commitment to providing a safe environment for students and staff. Their safety and well-being remain a top priority, and we continually work to enhance our preparedness. View photos from the training.

In February, the Citizens In Our Schools Class of 2025 participated in Classroom and Curriculum Day! They had the opportunity to learn about curriculum development and visit classrooms at Francis Howell North High School and Independence Elementary.

Castlio Elementary will host their annual spaghetti dinner on Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. This student-hosted event is to thank first responders for their service. Please spread the word and encourage first responders to sign up!
