FHSD earns a spot in the top 3% of Missouri school districts

The Francis Howell School District is ranked as one of the top school districts in the state of Missouri, according to Niche’s 2026 Best Districts list.

Three Schools. One District.

The District came together to celebrate a lot of fun Homecoming traditions this month.

FHSD shares reminders to help keep students safe traveling to and from school

Earlier this week, the Francis Howell School District shared safety reminders to help protect students who walk, bike, or ride the bus to and from school.

The search for the District's next Transportation Director

Director of Transportation Jennifer Simpson is retiring this December after a successful career leading our Transportation Department.

Student transportation will continue as normal for the rest of the school year. The position is already posted. We are actively recruiting a replacement with the goal of having someone in place so an interim will not be needed.

Simpson has dedicated her career to student transportation since 2003, and we are grateful for her leadership since joining FHSD in 2019. We encourage interested candidates to apply on our district website.

Know someone looking for work during school hours?

Sodexo, the District’s food service provider, is hiring cashiers and cooks at several schools. If you know someone looking for steady work in a school setting with family-friendly hours, encourage them to apply by visiting these websites.

Current openings include:

  • Francis Howell Central High
  • Francis Howell High

Francis Howell North leads the way in All-District choir selections across the District

Francis Howell North choir students made history at this year’s All-District Honor Choir auditions. Out of 347 singers from across the St. Louis region, 29 FHN students earned spots in the All-District Mixed Honor Choir, the most in school history.

Nearly 200 singers from throughout Missouri are selected each year to perform with the prestigious ensemble. Seventeen juniors and seniors from Francis Howell North ranked in the top 20 and earned the right to audition for the Missouri All-State Choir on November 6. Francis Howell Central will have four students advancing, and Francis Howell High will have nine.

The FHSD Board of Education will hold a work session on Thursday, November 6 to discuss next steps regarding the facilities master plan presentation and demographic study presented at the September 18 Board meeting. The work session will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the FHSD Administration Building (801 Corporate Centre Drive, O'Fallon).

FHSD screens all K-8 students for reading difficulties, including dyslexia, to identify those who may need additional support in meeting grade-level learning goals. These assessments are vital for early identification and help ensure that students receive appropriate interventions; for more information or to request a full report, please contact your child’s teacher.

Howell of Fame nominations will open on the first day of November. You can visit the District website to learn more about the award guidelines and how to nominate someone for the prestigious award.

A friendly reminder. Today was our final day of school before Fall Break begins on Monday, October 20. Classes will resume on Monday, October 27. Enjoy your break!

Francis Howell Central rang in their homecoming weekend with a parade through the streets of Cottleville. Thank you to the community for attending and supporting our students. View photos from all Homecoming celebrations on our Facebook page.

This month, we celebrated National Custodian, Maintenance, Grounds, and HVAC Appreciation Day! We made a fun video highlighting some of our behind-the-scenes teams who keep our buildings running at full speed. Be sure to thank these staff members the next time you see them! #OneHowell

John Weldon Elementary students brought their best to the stage for the school's annual talent show! Every act was a hit. See more photos from the talent show.

This month, we're tipping our hats to the dozens of incredible principals who are the backbones of our schools! Happy Principals Month! Give your favorite principal a shout-out.

Bus Driver Appreciation Week officially occurs during Fall Break, but it’s not too late to thank the drivers who safely transport students every day. We need to hire more great drivers to join our award-winning team. Learn more about the benefits of being a driver in FHSD.

Kindness was on full display this month at John Weldon Elementary School as FHSD Sparks cheerleaders and the school’s Kindness Club welcomed students. This was all a part of the school’s Abilities Awareness Week celebration.

Being kind and safe is one of the core values in our strategic plan! #valuesinaction
