Greetings Oakland Community,

Oakland families and students know that strong schools are the foundation of a thriving city—and Loren Taylor gets it. 

As a father raising his children here and a former OUSD PTA president, he understands firsthand how education, safety, and equity are deeply connected. 

That’s why FIA4Justice families proudly endorses Loren Taylor for mayor. We are Black and Brown parent leaders who are leaders at home, at school and citywide on education issues we care about like literacy, math proficiency and college access. We came together to study the candidates and we want you to know who we are supporting for mayor.

Taylor is backed by student-centered advocates like OUSD school board members Clifford Thompson (District 7) and Patrice Berry (District 5), who prioritize a quality education for all Oakland students. He’s earned the trust of FIA-aligned advocates, including Lakisha Young of The Oakland REACH, because he recognizes that fixing our schools is essential to fixing our city.

Unlike past mayors backed by the same establishment players, Taylor offers fresh leadership with a data-driven approach to solving Oakland’s toughest challenges. 

He has a clear plan to address public safety by increasing police staffing while also tackling root causes—because our families deserve both safe streets and strong schools.

Still, we have questions. Will his vision for development uplift—rather than displace—Black and Brown communities in East Oakland? We’ll hold him accountable to ensure growth doesn’t come at the cost of pushing out longtime residents.

But one thing is clear: Loren Taylor listens to parents, values education, and is ready to lead Oakland in a new direction. He’s the mayor our families need.
