SPECIAL MUSIC

“Welcome!
We are so glad you are here!”

As we enter our church, as we live as members, as we experience important life-cycle events (falling in love, marrying, parenting, baptism, coming out, transitioning, etc.), words of welcome and support, understanding and love are what we all long for. This manifestation of God’s Extravagant Welcome and the justice and social witness that accompany it are the heart of what we hope to show our community and all who walk through the doors of Christ Congregational United Church of Christ.

PEACE BE WITH YOU!
March 24, 2023

Dear Congregation,

Following worship on Palm Sunday, April 2nd, I encourage you to stay after the service. During our Fellowship time in Kelsey Hall, there will be what I’ve called “A Conversation with Pastor Candy: ‘WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROPERTY SALE IS FINALIZED ON APRIL 21?’” Church Council and I will be meeting with representatives from the purchaser on a Tuesday evening ZOOM. We’ll ask questions that focus on the lived-out reality of changes that will occur as a result of the sale.

As we move from being property owners to being renters, operating under the terms of a 20-year lease agreement, there will necessarily be changes, some little and others more noticeable. I feel that the more we know in advance the easier it will be for us to adapt. As a congregation we’re all in this together and so I want us all to be informed.

I also see this as a time in which we can share our feelings about this very real change, which, in spite of all the positives as we look toward a new future, will inevitably include a sense of loss. This will be a time to share memories of special times at CCC, and to support each other in the midst of change.

As you may recall, our focus scripture for this year’s Annual Meeting Yearbook is Isaiah 43:19, “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth. Do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” The assurance that God is with us, that God is doing this new thing through us, is powerful in giving us courage and peace as this new thing, right here, comes to pass.

May we move into the future in anticipation and in gratitude for being part of God’s new thing!

God Bless You!
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Candy

Since then, we have developed a wide range of projects in agriculture, institutional development, education, human rights, and theological training.

This is about encouraging all our local merchants to participate in the Fair Food Program and that’s really going to ensure safer conditions. And we can eat with a smile on our face.'”
