Richmond,VA 10/22/24 - With just two weeks until Election Day, the fight is far from over. This campaign has never been about me—it’s been about YOU, the people. We are taking on the establishment and fighting for a Richmond that works for everyone, not just the powerful few. When you stand up for the people, they try to tear you down. But we won't be silenced. It's the game they play in Richmond. We won't fall for it. We're lifting your voices, and we're fighting for the change you deserve. A change that's past due.
The truth is, we're up against a City and opponents who don't want your voice to be resounding - and we knew that going into this race. One opponent is under FBI investigation for alleged kickbacks, and I’ve been interviewed along with others as part of that probe. Another opponent’s wife was recently fired from her position of Business Manager by the Catholic Diocese of Richmond at All Saints Catholic School and is under investigation for alleged embezzlement. Yet despite the distractions, this campaign isn’t about them—it’s about you.
Change is Upon Us.
This will be a Richmond like never before. A city where YOU are the decision-makers. A city where the people lead, and the establishment doesn’t like that. That means we are doing something right. And we will fight back! We are suppose to. They are desperate—spreading lies, attacking me, my service, and my commitment to people. They've tried it all - saying I don't live in the City, which is the furthest thing from the truth. They have said I didn't serve as CEO of an organization that empowered Black and Brown communities in Alexandria—work that I consider some of the most fulfilling years of my life. They tried to tarnish my law degree from Southern University Law Center, an institution built on the fight for equal access to education. An institution formed as a result of African American students being denied entry into LSU Law School. SULC made me a leader and gave me the tools to uplift others. When we graduated, we were told you are now lawyer leaders, go be great and help people whichever way you see fit. A legacy I honor every day.
Graduating from law school many years ago was bittersweet because my late parents couldn’t see me cross that stage. But I know they are proud, just as I am proud to dedicate my life to serving the people. Everything I’ve fought for has built me up for this moment—a moment to take Richmond to the next level, with YOU leading the way.
A Richmond That Works for Everyone.
We have so much to fix, and you deserve the best. But not everyone wants that for you. Developers don’t want us to speak about how they’ve gone unchecked for too long. They don’t want us to put systems in place that give residents a voice in how their neighborhoods are shaped. It's impacting their wallets. The City doesn't want to admit things have failed. They want you to leave things the way they are. But we won’t back down. I see the struggles every day, and I’m here to fight for solutions that work for you. That’s why, on November 5th, we need to send a clear message: we demand change.
The best way to fight back is to show up at the polls. Vote for the change this district needs—vote for a leader who will always put you first. A leader who will make sure you are never in the shadows but front and center in every decision. And that person is me.
This is more than an election—it’s a movement. A movement to unite our district, transform our city, and create a Richmond where we all rise together. Stay focused, spread the word, and let’s make history.
FIGHT BACK!
