"President and CEO of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Yuri Cunza, says the community support is fantastic, but he’s also finding other ways to support local small businesses.
“There are ways in which you can support the business, but sometimes it’s short-lived,” Cunza said. “So you say, ‘Oh, let’s go buy food one day a week,’ and then you forget about it.”
That’s why the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Comcast to help local business owners apply for their RISE grants, which will provide 100 small businesses in Nashville with $5,000, plus business consulting services and a makeover of their online presence.
“It’s good to have one customer coming through that door every day, but sometimes you need just a bulk of chunk of money to make payroll,” Cunza said.
The Hispanic Chamber is holding an event at Las Americas at 8 am on Thursday to help entrepreneurs with the application and answer any questions they may have about the grants.
To qualify, a business must be in the Nashville area, have been open for at least two years, and have 100 employees or fewer. Applications close on May 31st. "
