The Future: By Design
The Alliance for Arts in Research Universities (a2ru) hosts Annual International Student Summit at UC Digital Futures
A2RU's 2023 Emerging Creative Student Summit, "The Future: By Design," was hosted March 2-5 by the University of Cincinnati in our new Digital Futures building. This year’s summit challenged teams of students to design innovative solutions that could move us toward a more sustainable, equitable future that harnesses new technologies to address global challenges.
In line with the interdisciplinary and impactful mission of Digital Futures, the a2ru Emerging Creative Student Summit facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration between students and faculty from different universities and from all majors, disciplines, and backgrounds to address real-life problems.
The summit is an intense experience. Within hours of the start of the summit, teams were formed, and the work began, with eyes on the final presentation less than 72 hours away. The first full day was for brainstorming and starting work on the development of the solution, culminating in a visit to the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown Cincinnati. Work continued the following day, with more emphasis on team dynamics and feedback in preparation for the next day’s presentations. On the final day, after a brief work session, teams presented their projects to their peers and mentors.
