Office of Research Internal Funding Program
Enhancing UC Researcher Success

As part of the Research 2030 Initiative, UC offers funding for internal research candidates. Internal seed funds serve as a critical catalyst for researchers, allowing them to build a solid foundation, generate preliminary evidence, and develop the necessary skills and collaborations that make them more competitive when seeking external funding from government agencies, private foundations, or industry partners. The internal funding opportunities range from fellowships and stipends for undergraduate and graduate students to programs for early- and mid-career faculty and researchers.
In Memoriam
Remembering Dr. John McNay and Dr. Dionysios Dionysiou
With heavy hearts, we remember and honor the lives of two exceptional individuals, Dr. John McNay of UC Blue Ash and Dr. Dionysios Dionysiou of CEAS, both of whom made significant contributions to the UC Office of Research over the course of the years and will be dearly missed.

John served as an inaugural member of the OoR Research Advisory Board sharing his insights and understanding of humanities-based scholarship and research at UC. Moreover, John partnered with then Professor Jonathan Kregor to prepare an NEH Infrastructure proposal on behalf of the Provost and myself. John remained a close resource and was always an individual who did not shy away from telling me what I needed to hear.

Dion assisted the OoR in so many ways, including his latest efforts and helping spearhead a group of faculty focused on identifying major research opportunities in the areas that are aligned with the Next Lives Here: Urban Futures Pathway. Dion was a passionate advocate for faculty-driven research and scholarship and never hesitated to step forward into a leadership role when asked.

As we mourn their loss, let us also celebrate the remarkable impact their work had on society. Their memory will forever be a source of inspiration, and their legacies will live on in the work of those they mentored and the contributions they made to our shared pursuit of knowledge.
