Hi Calvary Family,

I am so blessed by the feedback I have received from many of you about how the Lord has been speaking to you through this current series of messages centered on the theme “Make Room”.

This past Sunday, we heard the Lord call us to break free from our overcrowded lives and find rest in him for our weary souls and bodies. Here are some of the key truths:

·     We must make room for prayer & bible study, serving, and rest. These do not have to conflict with each other. They will all fit in a well-ordered life. “Make room” doesn’t mean “take over the house”!

·     The overcrowded life is a life that has neglected to prioritize around purpose.

·     For the Christian, Sabbath should be practiced as a wise principle rather than as a law. God ordained a “sabbath rest” as a blessing for us, not a burden to us.

·     Rest is spiritual and mental before it is physical. Sleeplessness is often due to our restlessness. We must find rest before we can enjoy sleep.

·     We will find rest when we learn to humble ourselves and trust God.

·     Sabbath is not sufficient to find rest for our weary souls and bodies. We need a Sabbath REST...and a sustainable PACE Monday- Saturday.

-     Pastor Randy

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”    - Matt. 11:28-30

OUR NEW APP

We are transitioning to a new church App, which means that all online donations will be made through a new platform going forward. Our current “Calvary App” will still be active for a couple of weeks, but we want to move everyone over to the new “Church Center” App as soon as possible. There are some new features with the “Church Center” App that we know you are going to love.

We have made it super easy for you. Just click on the link below and get started.

If you have a recurrent offering set up that you want to update, use this link. Remember to stop the current one.

FIRST SUNDAY PRAISE AND PRAYER

Make sure you join us this Sunday, Aug 3, at 6 pm for a beautiful time in God’s presence. First Sunday Praise and Prayer services are a wonderful opportunity to gather and call on the name of the Lord in petition and praise, and lift up the needs of our brothers and sisters.

CALVARYCHURCH PICNIC

On Sunday, August 17, we will have one morning service at 10 am, followed by our GREAT ANNUAL CALVARY FAMILY PICNIC. During the picnic, we will have inflatables for the children to play on and games for teens and adults.

“The family that prays together stays together,” and “the family that plays together stays together”. On August 17, we are going to strengthen our family ties as we both pray and play together. Willette Whitaker will serve as our activities coordinator once again, and she has some great plans in the works! There will be inflatables for the kids, three-on-three basketball, a jump rope competition, dancing, and other fun games.

The church will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. We ask each family unit to bring either a side dish or dessert, if possible. Please follow the directions when you sign up, so we have the right ratio of side dishes to desserts.

Having all attendees sign up is very important, so don’t delay, sign up TODAY!

We need people who love serving to help us with set up, food prep, cooking on the grill, activities, and clean up. We need as many hands as possible to make our picnic happen. Sign up to be part of the picnic share team.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY

Do you ever feel like you can't get ahead with money? You're not alone. You'd be surprised how many people feel that way. But there's hope—with a Financial Peace University class at Calvary Church. Over five Wednesday evenings, you'll learn biblical principles for handling money and a roadmap for getting out of debt & building wealth that will give you peace with your finances. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-12, the Spirit tells us that when we are faithful, generous stewards of our resources, God will provide and increase our resources. Then God will produce an abundance of generosity in us. God blesses us so that we can bless others.

These classes will begin on Sept 17th at 7 pm in the Welcome Center at Calvary.

YOUNG ADULT COOKOUT

If you are between the ages of 19 and 30, you are invited to join us for a cookout at the Eliason’s house (Next Door to the Church) on Sunday, August 10, after the second service. Come hang out and enjoy some great food and fun. During this gathering, we will share what God is doing in our lives and discuss future plans for our Young Adult ministry.

JOIN A SHARE TEAM AND KEEP GROWING

In order to keep growing in our faith, it is vital that we SHARE our spiritual gifts, abilities, and time with the rest of the body of Christ and make a contribution to the body’s growth. As we do that, we grow personally. One way you can do that is by joining one of our SHARE teams.
